Does anyone use a mains filter? do we already have them fitted or are they something you buy extra? I have read that they help imporove both picture and sound quality, is this true. Seeing as my JVC teles image persistence problem is classified by the engineers as not a problem i am desperate to find out how to get rid of it.

I use a belkin mains regulator/filter/ups system which looks after all my AV kit ... it has 4 battery backup outputs and 4 non backup outputs, all filtered and voltage regulated ...

cost about 75 quid and gives me great piece of mind .. and £30k insurance on electrical damage ...

IMHO worth the expense when you have a lot of delicate kit ...
