Main audio seems to come from surrounds

My PS5 is hooked up to my TV (Philips OLED) and then to my amp (Sony STR1080) vie eARC. In the speaker setup of the PS5 I set it to 5.1, even though I have Atmos height speakers as the PS5 doesnt use Atmos. Anyway, my problem, most of the audio/voices in games seems to come from the surround speakers and most of the sound effects seem to come from the front, is this correct? Im playing the Batman PS4 game and batman speaks from the rears, just seems/feels odd!
