    Hello Everyone :hiya:

I have recently ordered Sky+ and am waiting for delivery tomorrow (£65 for now box + free installation) :smashin: however I have now read something about Magic Eye?

For years I have been able to watch Sky from around the house as we have direct wires from the main TV to bedrooms etc but we have always had to change the channel on Sky from this main TV.

I have looked around this forum (and I love it) however there is no simple explanation on what Magic Eye is

Can someone please treat me like a 6 year old (mind you they prob know more than me  ) and explain what Magic Eye is and how I would set it up (would I need more cables around the house etc?)

    Many Thanks

It sounds like you already have the signal distributed around the house. All you need to do is put a magic eye on each TV and you can then change the sky channel from any room (as long as you have a sky remote control in that room).

They are fairly cheap and can be got from places like www.satcure.co.uk. You will need to ensure you can pass the voltage through. You probably have a splitter in the loft which is distributing the signal, this needs to be able to transfer the voltage through. Best bet is to get one magic eye and try it. If it will not change the channel you may need to change the distribution box.

You will need to activate the RF voltage doing a Services-4-0-1 select.

    Hope that is clear!

Thanks for the advice Parklife

This still does not explain exactly what Magic is?

Is it simply a infrared box that connects to each TV or something completely different?

The eye is like a badge-sized dongle that you pass the rf feed of your sky box to the tv in each room. It's sticky-backed and inobtrusive. plug the eye into the ariel socket into 2nd/3rd tv and plug ur sky feed into the eye. very easy and gives full control anywhere

    Many Thanks

Have just seen a Global Magic Eye on Ebay for £5 - Can't go wrong!!

One more question :lease: (I told you I was not any good at this!)

I have just had a look at my current set up - At moment:

Ariel lead from main ariel and dish goes into Sky Ariel in socket and comes out of Ariel Out (not RF2) into a box behind the TV with several other connections that lead around the house (one of these must be for my room).

Would the Magic Eye still work with this set-up or would I need another lead out of RF2 into this box as there is no more space?

    Thanks

The output has to come out of the RF2. I would try and just use the RF2 and not the aerial out. Best thing is to give it a try!

No problem. It's just information that I accumulate from the forums and lump together in one place for everyone. :)
