I go to, what my wife and I call, "Fat Fighters" which is tip of the cap to Little Britain but its real name is Scottish Slimmers. The class I go to is on for 30mins and the woman who takes it stands up and gives a 15-20min talk to motive us fatties Normally she tries to make it amusing and engaging as best she can, which the most part she does a sterling job. But last night I can honestly say I nearly soiled myself with this sequence of events, it was like genuinely being on the set of Little Britain as they filmed the Fat-Fighters sketch. One thing I have to make a point of, for those of us who have been there a while, when we get weighed, if you have had a bad week and it shows on the scales, the woman will often, tongue-and-cheek, say "you need to sort yourself out for next week" or words to that affect. But last night during her speech she did an almost Q&A session and asked - does anyone think there is anything that medically makes them over-weight or eat excessively? now a few funny comments came back about being greedy as you would expect. However one woman very seriously said "Well my whole family are over-weight or obese and my relatives are over-weight, we went to the doctors about it years ago and he said it just runs in our family!"..... Without missing a beat the woman taking the class responded with: "Really... Or do you think the problem is no-one runs in your family!" Now I am sure I have heard that used in a joke or in a stand up routine.... However in this context, the reply being so quick and a bit unexpected. The whole class laughed (as did the woman who said it I might add) but for me I had to leave the room because I was laughing so hard, I had genuine tears in my eyes. Come on that is a cracker... Surely that would get ****ted by a lot of tweeters on twitter...?
