EA Sports Madden 07 comes out NEXT FRIDAY, 25th August on Xbox 360.

This full version promises all the features that wasnt in the 06 version compared to the Xbox Madden 06 including the NFL Superstar: Hall of Fame Mode (something I'm looking forward to). 07 also concentrates on the running game which is unsuprising as Seattle Seahawk star running back Shaun Alexander features as it's cover star. Is that the famed Madden Jinx in store for him?? ;)

This is an instant purchase for me as i need a sports game to tide me over until PES, i loved last years game and this looks much better. I really hope it comes out next week, but as the dates were only just changed to the 8th im not holding out much hope. I just hope we can get a proper competition going as the last one died, and i was in such good form too.

Likewise ;)

I hope they beef up Eli Manning, Osi Umenyiora and Will Demps and our new additions LeVar Arrington, Sam Madison and RW McQuarters have good stats. And if Chad Morton isnt one of the best kick off returners in the league I'll be p**sed ;)

New York Giants *clap, clap, clap clap clap*

Will this game do anything for those of us who don't understand american football?

There were people on this forum who had last years game without knowing much about american football and i believe most of them enjoyed it a great deal. Honestly if you have any interest in team sports you should like it.

Billy - i had Madden06 and know nothing about gridiron but as 06 was really a cut down game it was simple enough for people like me top play so i'd imaging that you would be able to play 07 just the same ie just pick a play that looks 'nice' and hope for the best! but obviously if you have a knowledge of the game beforehand that will help being good at it or getting more into it, but the more you play the more you'll pick up as you go along

I've played a few american football games before so I know what you mean about this :) I may well end up checking it out. After all, I need something to play between now and September when the decent games start coming out :)

If you're not sure what you're doing it's easy enough to just go with whatever play is recommended. That's pretty much all I do when I'm on defense:)

This is the beauty of Madden (and a reason it's such a long running successful series), its easy to get into if youre a newbie but still has the depth and complexity for the big football fans out there.

You dont have to have a big deep understanding of the game, just the basics and you will be ok. But if you know your zonal defence and your fake punts then it can be rewarding to audible into a screen pass when the defense is showing blitz to get those 50 yard gains.

Gamespot are doing a seven hour live webcast of Madden 07 on all platforms today including a live review of the 360 version. It'll be interesting to see what they have to say.

The summary of any reviews would be most helpful for those of us stuck behind firewalls!

Anyone know when this is out?

Amazon and the EA UK site have it as 25/8 but a lot of other on-line sites have it as 8th September now.

Im crossing my fingers that it's the 25th. If I get a dispatch note from Amazon I'll post.

The 7 hour Gamespot live webcast is tonight at midnight. Please excuse me if I dont stay up!!!

Just checked my Madden order on Amazon, still showing dispatch date as today but not sent out yet. To be fair to Amazon the e-mail to tell you its been shipped usually comes later on.

If I see that its been shipped I'll let you all know.

Like Pooon, I only knew the basics of Am footie before getting this but it's really no harder to understand than Rugby or Footie. I guess it's just because we are not really expossed to it over here that we find it harder to get to grips with.

There are a few guys on this forum who helped out myself and others and it's a good fun game to play.

I set up and played in the 1st AVF Superbowl last year and whilst I got beat in all my games by a couple of more experienced players I really enjoyed playing it. :)

I'm not sure if i'm going to get this one as there's just two many other games i'd like, but i'm sure that i'd enjoy it if I got it. It may be one that i'll pick up cheap a couple of months down the line.

The points of the madden 07 review (as I saw it) are as follows:

The actual game play hasnt changed much, there are a few new animations and you can use the "highlight stick" to juke, duck and spin your way around when running with the ball.. Basically its a bit more accessible than using the buttons.. Data is obviously from this year.. but the big changes are obviously the hall of fame mode.. That looks great by the gamespot review..

The summary as I see it, is that its an improvement but not the big jump all of us would have liked. Gamespot rated it 7.8 (good). I'll still get it..
