    hi all,

received my official component cable from play-asia.com today.

this is just a quick comparison, from about 10 minutes worth of red steel.

my main gripe with madcatz were the jaggies. The colours etc were fine, but jaggies were annoying me. They were more or less the same regardless of wii tv settings.

With the official cables, the jaggies are EXACTLY THE SAME. there has been no improvement whatsoever in that respect. Especially dark on light things, eg characters with a light source behind them, or the mii channel.

One major improvement though is the colours. The black is blacker, the red is deeper, and red steel doesn't look like you're playing in monochrome any more.

So, for those that have madcatz and are thinking about getting official, if you want to get better, deeper, colours - go official. If the colours are fine with madcatz then don't waste any more money on what imho has become a ridiculous thing (ie cable shortage).

For me I wouldn't have rested until I got the officials and checked them. TBH the jaggies really put me off the wii sometimes. I know it's all about the gameplay and in that respect it's awesome, but couldn't nintendo simply set an AA option or something like that. I sure hope a firmware update of sorts will do something about that. I guess having a 360 via VGA on the same TV doesn't help.

In summary: official is better when it comes to colours.

ps: tv = antec 32" hd ready

I'll test some more stuff later today (zelda, super monkey ball, rayman) and let you know.

ive tryed the blaze component leads over the the supplied cables and to be honest there isnt much difference in them either, think people will just have to get used of the not so sharp graphics that is on other gaming machines at the moment.

I've got a mad catz and I don't see any jaggies at all.
Infact tennis is on right now and the lines of the court are totally jaggie free

    I'll second that.

Initially, after picking up the official lead from Game on Saturday, I was somewhat disappointed. But the tennis, in particular, looks a lot better.

Still, at least I get Pro-Logic through my amp now :smashin:

    Haven't tried Wii Sports yet

what is your tv out of interest? I'm surprised you haven't seen any jaggies in any games, surely red steel is full of them.

    i'll try sports in a sec :)

    I don't have red steel
The TV is a 50inch DLP Sagem
I can't really complain about the quality at all but I've only ever played a PS2 on it before I've not been spoiled by HD gaming on it yet.
Apart from the odd PC game
    I'll try take some pictures

Jaggies....you get those if the game does not use anti-aliasing. You see them more clearly the better connection type you have for the video output. Ironical but true.

Composite cables (the ones in the Wii box) will 'hide' the jaggies in their poor image quality, hence why they show up more with RGB Scart or component leads.

Yup, heard that before about the better the cable, the worse the jaggies. And yes the fuzziness of composite hid them, but the picture was truely awful.

I guess just playing a PS2 on the same TV makes your eye less spoilt by HD. If you do get the chance to play 360 or even PS3 on your TV you'll see what I mean.

Well, at least the official one didn't make the jaggies worse
