can anyone please tell me if the close-up macro facility is still available on most camcorders. I am hoping to buy a camcorder soon but cant find any that says it has macro. has it been renamed to something else. thanks.

    Hi minso

Most of the new cams do not come with macro lens position. However they do come with a filter thread on the lens. Check your manual and it will give a filter diameter, mine says
"FILTER: ö 52mm" I know filter sounds like special effects like "Stars", "Fog" & "Polerizer" but the macro filters perform the close up function. they have a + number to indicate ower. see this link.

    Click > Consumer Video
In the Column General Video Accessories Click > Filters & Accessories
In The Column Standard Filters Click > Close Up Lenses
Pick your size ie. 52mm > SUBMIT
    find General Brand 52mm Close-up Kit (+1, +2, +4) Lens & Click.
    this is a good explanation.
