I recently brought a Mac Mini and have just noticed that the monitor goes black every so often.

I can be ok for ages, then it'll do it every 30secs/1min

I've looked online and found loads of other people have had issues like this but no real reason or solution.

Has anyone had this problem and overcome it?

I'm using a HDMI cable to my monitor.

Which MacMini model? What is your monitor model/make?

I'd noticed people complaining about display issues re HDMI connections and some fingers have pointed to the gray areas in the specifications itself, leading to slight "mismatches" in the implementation on HDMI sources versus HDMI sinks.

I'll have a look at my monitor once I'm home as I can't remember now but the mac is a....

    2.3GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7
    8GB 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM
    2x4GB
    1TB Serial ATA Drive @ 5400

I used it last night and it was fine, but I was only on it for 10-15mins. The day before I was on it a lot longer and it started doing it.

It did a few updates when I fired it up, so it should be fine.

Cool, that's for taking a look.

It's rather annoying, especially as it's brand new. But like I say it's all over the net with people having issues I just can't find a solution

I got mine when the new one came out in late 2012, I had major HDMI display issues aswell as alot of other people and Apple released a firmware fix which only worked for some people....fuzzy text, shoddy colours etc I think only after Mavericks it all seemed to fix itself! Had to use DVI for awhile before it sorted out the HDMI issue. HD4000 is the culprit imo, waiting to see if a new Mac mini is released this year.

I did read elsewhere that people had issues but an update sorted it out. Unfortunately not for me.

I did think about hanging on for a new one but how long do you wait. It could come soon, it could be another 6mnths.
