    Hi Guys,

I bought some MA Silver 8i fronts a while ago, along with a Denon 3802 amp. After buying these I lost my job so unfortunatley was unable to afford the centre and rear speakers.

I am looking at now buying a centre and rear speakers, however I am not sure which to go for. I have a budjet of about £400.00 for the speakers + cable - what would you recommend?

The MA BFX rears, and Bronze centre seem like good value for money - would these be ok with my 8i's ?

    Thanks for your help.

I'd go for the silver SCR centre speaker which will match the fronts , and IMO is the ost important speaker in HC. I have one(with 6i's) and its great - £250 I think?.

My rears are old Kef coda 7's which do the job. Far less important for a tonal match than hte centre , I'd go for something as close to the silvers as you can with the rest of the budget.

Thanks - I'm not sure wether I'll get the SLCR, BFXs + cable for £400 though. I suppose I will have to stretch my budget a bit if you think it's worth the extra £130 for the SLCR.

What's the best position for the centre? Do you think it will be ok on top of the TV? I don't really have anywhere else to put it unless I buy a stand - which I can't afford :(

Top of the TV is fine, you can use some bluetack to isolate and secure it.

The silver is worth the extra as it matches your fronts and is the most important speaker for home cinema imho. Not saying the bronze wouldn't be good just that I think the silver is worth stretching for.

Centre is about £250, Rears £180 and you can get decent speaker cable from Maplins for less than £1/M. Might get cable thrown in as a deal maker if you get both speakers together.

Try www.hifibitz..co.uk or another forum sponser.

Keep an eye out for a bargain, last year 7oaks had GRfx £900 ex dem for £500.

Thanks for the advice - I think I will buy from Hifibitz as I have used them before. I think I will go for the SLCR on top of the TV, then perhaps when I can afford it go for a decent rack.

I've got a mint Optimum OPT5500 for sale soon if anyone is interested.

How much are the SFXs? I can't seem to find them for sale anywhere online.

One option to consider are the new MA radius speakers. I currently use a R180 for rears and centre and find they work really well my S6's. They are small too and come with a lovely wall mounting bracket.
They are also going to fall into your budget.

7oaks Leeds have a pair in white for £250 in the clearance section.

Heard the Radius package at a HiFi show recently and thought they were very good, quite a bit better than my Kef Eggs Mk1.
