Hi

Just a quick question: I need to get from around Slough to Bristol for a meeting. Is the M4 ok in the mornings, or would it be a nightmare? Google maps says about 90 minutes which would be ok, but if there is traffic and it'll be more like 3 hours I might just get the train instead. Or go the night before.

Once you get past Theale (A4) it is usually free running, even during Rush Hour. Allow up to 30minutes to get through Reading (J10-12) on top of your journey I would say.

you will never do it in 90minutes in rush hour, traffic is always heavy around reading, you will be very lucky to do it in less than 2hrs

i did it all the way from the m25 to bristol in the pouring rain one morning not too long ago and it was free flowing...except a few small sections where they were doing roadworks.
