M&L Cinema Room 7.2.6

Those wires below the TV though. I'd need to hide those.

Was wondering that myself lol

It's similar to the the IKEA units, but looks much better in actual wood

The tv stand is from a Dutch Store called Goossens. It's deep enough to accommodate both the stereo amplifier and the Rega TT.

I know. What I wanted to do when we moved in 3 years ago was to hide it in the wall. But it is a concrete wall. Maybe I will make a false tv wall to hide the cables. But you're right. Cable management should be fixed haha. It doesn't bother me that much.

Fantastic job, enjoy

lovely rooms, great set up. I've got the silver 6 speakers myself, curious as to how they match with your Rega amp. I'm on the market for a new amp and Rega Elicit R is one of many on my radar, but nowhere near me stocks them for a demo.

I auditioned the Arcam and Rega amplifiers after I got the speakers. I had them hooked up to an Audiolab 8000SE at first. The Rega for me is a very nice sounding amp paired to the Monitor Audio's. Very fast transparent sound with a lot of PRAT. The Arcam sounded less lively compared to the Rega and more polite. Just didn't involved me that much with the music as the Rega did.

Rega and Monitor Audio can be a bit bright sounding combo, but never gets harsh to my ears. But I would definitely demo the combination. The Elicit R was out of reach at the time so I didn't listened to that amp. From what I've read the Elicit is brighter then the Elex R. But I've also read that about the Elex MA combo... Just a matter of personal preference. I hope you can get a demo!

MLCinema Thanks for your views on the Rega, Monitor Audio combination. Hopefully I'll get a demo soon. To be honest I prefer a warmer sound so maybe look at other options. I do like the reviews of the Peachtree Nova 150. But only one stockist in U.K. That I know of. So gonna be hard to demo. Lol.

No problem:). I also considered Peachtree. The sound signature is very source depending. I think my RP6 with Ortofon Bronze cartridge is more analytical then the Bluesound Node 2. Kind of strange given the fact that vinyl is regarded a warm sounding medium.

Other possible options I would consider are the Hegel H80, Marantz PM8005 and maybe a Creek. Enjoy you're search. Nice part of the hobby!

So tonight i finally have some time to spend in the HT room. Curieus how John Wick 2 will sound in Atmos! The guy who helped me realise the HT room also comes to watch. Since the build a lot has been changed...

Time for a little bump! Upgraded the projector to a Epson TW7300. Came across one for a good price second hand and went for it. The step up in image quality is big! Also added a Sony UBP X800 to the setup to be able to enjoy my growing UHD collection.

New vs old

And hanging on the ceiling.

Watched Wonder Woman last night. Lovely movie. Tonight’s movie is Spider Homecoming. Really exited to watch it.

Time for a new bump. I swapped out the Epson TW7300 and bought a JVC N5. Absolutely stunning image quality and a big step up from the Epson.

Had to cut out the lowered ceiling and drill in the ceiling because these units are heavy. Also had to move further back because of the throw ratio of the JVC. Will post some updated pictures soon.

I also ordered a new 120” 21:9 screen. In 16:9 my current screen is big enough. But with 2.35:1 films my current screen feels too small. Instead of a motorized tab tension screen like I have now I have chosen to make a construction to support a frame screen. Really excited!

Still have to take descent pictures of the room, but I have a picture of my new seating setup. Went from 4 to 5 seats, creating a central position in front of the screen and in the middle of the surround sound. Awesome!

Really enjoying seeing your updates. My set up is in a similar size room, and like you I’m about to move from a 16:9 screen to a 235:1 AT screen. I can probably just about fit a 130” 235:1 total width 3.5m.

Installed a new screen yesterday. Went from a 16:9 230cm wide electrical screen to a 21:9 fixed frame screen 280cm wide. So went from 92” 21:9 to 120” 21:9. 16:9 is a bit smaller then I’m used to.

The majority of use is 21:9 movies so the format makes perfect sense. This makes for a real nice step up in viewing experience along with the recent upgrade to the JVC N5. Very happy with the combination!!!

Finally upgraded the front LCR speakers. Picked up a pair of RF82MK2 Klipsch floorstanders, a RC62 and a pair of RS62 to use as side surrounds.
Next upgrade would be to either add a power amplifier such as the IOTA AVPX1 or upgrade the receiver and get a Marantz SR8012 or Denon AVC-X8500.

The room is finally finished, for now😊.

Added some extra acoustic panels. Only have crappy iPhone pictures at the moment but they give a good impression of the current room. On the photos with the ceiling panels installed is the end result.

I had two reasons to add the panels. First off I wanted to further improve the overall acoustic in the room. Secondly I wanted to cover the white spot on the ceiling where my previous projectors where mounted.

Current setup consists of:
JVC N5
Adeo 21:9 120” frame screen
Denon X8500
PS5
Sony UBP X800mk1
Klipsch RF82MK2 front
Klipsch RC62 center
Klipsch RS62 sides
Klipsch RB61 rears
Klipsch RB51 heights

Only considering to upgrade the Sony UBP X800 with either a Pioneer LX500 or Panasonic UB9004.

Added a mini dsp 2x4 hd and an extra set op RB51 speakers which will be used as Top Middle Atmos speakers. Have them mounted above the sides but not wired up. Have to pick up some speaker wire and dial the system in again.

The added mini dsp and different subwoofer placement have resulted in much tighter bass response in my room. Really happy with that purchase.

Stunning cinema you have congratulations bet it sounds and is visualply fantastic enjoy you fruits of you hard labour👍

Thanks! It does sound very balanced and the image quality is simply stunning with the N5. Combination of the N5 and the 120” 21:9 screen is great.

Latest addition to the setup is a Panasonic UB9004. The Sony broke down two weeks ago and already annoyed me because it tended to freeze during playback. Came across a good priced player on the second hand market and went for it. Lovely build quality and the image is a step up from the Sony. Differences are not night and day but the image has more depth and colors look more vibrant and more pop.

Another bump😊.

Since I added the top middle Atmos channels the Denon had to power 13 channels and I just got the feeling that it was lacking just a little bit of power. Been going back and forth on different amps but ended up buying the 3 channel Nord Acoustics NC500 triple mono from PascalP.

What a difference! Both music and movies sound much more dynamic. The X8500 is no slouch by any means but not having to power the LCR makes a ton of difference.
