    UPS delivered today!!!......

    ...

    ...and I was at work:mad:

The UPS delivery slip has incredibly transparent sound, is very neutral and is quite inconspicuous.

Oh well, I'm away for the next 2 days so won't get them until Wednesday but - hmm, on Wednesday I should have the M&Ks, another Servo-15 and possibly another power amp. Home cinema nirvana!!!:D

Just checked the Blax tracking and it is still at Manchester, and Liam hasn't said otherwise, I would kill for it tomorrow, I might get some reviews done on my day off.

Bax aren't good at contacting you if there is a problem, as I know from experience. If it doesn't move tomorrow get Liam to give them a ring. I was slow and mine ended up being stuck for over a week.

Off out now and not back until tomorrow, so no time to play:(

Would have been nice if RS had included a power cable in the box:rolleyes: But hey, at least I got it!

hmmm - just got off the phone with bax (me having to phone them up despite them promising to get back to me)

and they said that due to the fact the driver doesn't need any custom duties being paid on it (since it's a replacement part) that customs have taken a liking to it and made it go through a route 1 check or something..

basically means that despite it being in manchester since friday that customs have somehow only got their grubby mitts on it today and could take up to 24 hours before passing it. Which will then mean that it can't be delivered tomorrow and will have to be done on Thursday instead...

    wonderful :/

i think they're mocking me behind my back

Got home tonight to find my M&Ks waiting for me, the 1610s were much bigger than I expected (still had in my mind the picture of the 1510s), but I've not fully been able to appreciate them as one of the tweeters came out of the box crushed:mad::(

Seems to play ok so far, but I'm gutted (5 week wait, although I did get them upgraded for free) that I have a tweeter with 4 dents in it:(

Just PM'd Eric so hopefully I should get it sorted out soon. I'll put down my initial thoughts (finally) on the speakers tomorrow probably:)

    Matt,
I'm gutted for you, hopefully Eric will get it sorted for you asap. How much bigger are the 1610s? How about a photograph with the double servos? God that room is going to sound sweet and just think you have JP:superbit to review this week, oh how i miss my bass........

Hopefully my SVS will be here tomorrow, but I'm busy working nights!! So no playing about with it, and after all this wait it will probably sound worse than the velo and i'll have to take that £5.99 contract out on Ian and Liam ;)

I'm sure I could find a few who would do it for free:D ;)

As for the size of them and pics, you'll have to wait until I get in my new place:). My living room is covered in empty boxes (starting to pack already) and it looks like a bloody state. Can't wait to move now.

Already had a response from Eric, which was to say he'll get a replacement shipped out, and they'll collect the dodgy one when the replacement is delivered:clap:  Couldn't've asked for more:)

In the meantime, I've just calibrated all channels with Avia, stuck on Jurassic Park Superbit and been bowled over. The difference is quite apparent from my old speakers. Bloody clear, and very very accurate.

I was really worried about brightness, but they just sound bloody sweet as pie! Admittedly I haven't taken them to reference level yet, but I've just put on LOTR ROTK preview...and the trailer at the end sounded simply awesome. I noted a touch of harshness in a couple of "speech" moments, particularly Gandalf's voice just before he rides to the top of the battlements and we catch a glimpse of the huuuuuge army massing.

This was played at -10db, and I was surprised nothing else sounded "harsh". I'm sure once these are run-in (currently have a 70min 5.1 CD on repeat, at low volume:)) and they loosen up a bit, the little harshness I've heard will go.

Interestingly, I really had to up the speaker levels for the fronts when calibrating (compared to my old Missions). Guess I'll need to re-do it in a few weeks and I'll find I need to lower the levels slightly.

Smurfin - sounds like the 1075 is coping well with the speaker load ? The speakers will get better with time.

Thing with M&K you can never give them enough power, they just get better and better with the more power you can give them.

Actually now that I have got the processor, I am seriously considering upgrading to 7.1. Would mean getting an additional pair of speakers and an amp. Would the 1080 be a match for the 1095 ? Also the problem is my sofa is right up against the rear wall (my current rear speakers are on the floor to the sides). The only place the additional rears can go is up on the wall rear wall - how should they be positioned ? Also if i currently play a DTS ES soundtrack I assume that I am not losing any sound ?

Confusing - how have you set or are intending to set yours up Matt ?

See the pics in this thread for how my room is going to look - a bit different to yours as I have a bit room behind me.

The 1080 sounds a good match for the 1095, I looked at it but @ £300 more than the 1070 I can't afford it.

Your current rears, are they bi-pole/di-pole/tri-pole? You should have them either side of your listening position I think, higher than ear level.

Ok - got it. Unfortunately I have no room.

My rears are tripoles and I have them either side of the listening position. They are m&k floor standing models.

So where is the optimum position to place my addtional rears given the lack of space ? Surely someone else must be in a similar position

Yep, I noticed this too. When I calibrated my previous speakers to 85dB using Avia, the speaker-level settings was between -04dB to -02dB. With the MPS1510's, I had to up the left/right channels to 00dB and the center channel to +02dB to reach the same 85dB  . I think this is down to the fact that they are power hungry speakers therefore they suck more current out of the Denon A1SE than past speakers.
