Hi, after finally mounting the M&K K4 Tripole's on the wall at the recommended height 2 meters from the floor(above ear height) I was extremley disapointed with the sound. Prior to that I had them on stands at ear height., they sound great and powerful, amazing... have I missed something?? do I need a second pair 7.1? someone plse help, thanx

Mine are also mounted at about the same height and they are fine. I assume that you have reset the speaker levels with the test tones and wonder if you have been used to having them too loud.

    Hi
Have you used your spl meter for the speakers new position.
Also rears shouldnt sound in your face more subtle.
My k-4s are near the ceiling pointing downwards and they blend in without ever drawing attention to themselfs but do add that balanced eerie sound to effects.
    Hope this helps.
    Cheers Gonzo. :)

I have reset the levels distance and everything, I can hear them but I just lose the power for example 2 Fast 2 Furious opening race when the cars go past I could feel the power and speed, but now it just dosen't sound right, not sure what to do, I thought they were suppose to sound better in theory, I'm really disapointed to be honest.

would the delay have anything to do with it? I've set the distance but not sure how to work out the delay

I wouldn't think that the delays would account for it as I doubt whether the distance has changed that much.

Its just dawned on me that maybe possibly the fact I do not have a subwoofer yet could be the problem, since the speakers were at ear height before therefore the bass was much closer? make any sense?

They are satellites that won't go below 80Hz and won't produce much bass at all so should always be used in conjunction with a subwoofer

It won't make any difference as the speakers aren't designed to reproduce bass notes so whether you set them to large or small you still won't hear anything under 80Hz

I think I will wait to get the sub before moving the rear speakers or getting another pair. The subs I'm considering are REL Stampede, REl Strata 5, M&K K9 or K10 or REL Q150 and sugestions, want a powerful sound quick agile and most of all has to be a tight bass, I have a small lounge 5X4 meters

Of those you've mentioned the Q150 is the only one I've heard. The older Strata models were/are very good subs so if the new one follows suit then it's worth having a demo.:)

My Mission M7D's are now mounted at just under 2 metres from the floor. In the old place I had them about a foot lower and they are not quite as noticable as before. I put this down to a good thing as they are'nt too obvious now, but you know they are there when need be, ie fly pasts and other obvious things in the mix, not just ambience effects.

I unndersatnd what you mean, but, for example on ambient effects if you put your ear to the rear speaker you can stuff, but if you move away you can hardly hear them? on louder moves such as 2 fast 2 furious it's ok but I lost the energy when they were at ear height.

That is what it is supposed to be like. Try replaying the same piece with the rear speakers switched off and you will notice the difference

I am currently using the M&K K9 sub and i think it is superb. There are probably better sub's around for the money, but for its size it is amazing.
