Please help with my desicion i cant seem to make my mind up what are your veiws
There is no comparison, M&K isn't just a class above Bose, it is out of sight
thanks the only thing is i have been to shows and have seen a demo of bose which was outstanding and when I did a dem of mkk17s in a store, they didnt blow me away. I know on paper nothing beats M&K, could it be that the store didnt set it up right.
Ultimately you have to go with your own ears but to ensure that it was not the store setting it up incorrectly I would advise you to have another demo of both makes (preferably at different places to before) and see if you feel the same way.
I could name you loads of things that do
As Ian says, trust your ears. I strongly doubt the bose is going to be better than the M&K (despite M&K sound not being to my taste), so again Ian is on the mark...... demo again before you buy because I think your ears have been tricked somehow.
I tried an acoustimass 10mk3 at home. I know what you mean about blowing you away in the shop. It's very impressive. Don't forget that when you are in a shop, there is a lot of background noise. This hides the 'grumbling' of the module. I assume you want it for music as well as movies. And wife friendly?
When you try it at home, you can easily identify where the acoustimass module is. Not like in the shop, where the bass comes from everywhere. If you get near the cubes, they sound very tinny.
Take a Madonna cd with 'erotica' on it to the store and try it again. Notice the complete lack of midrange in the opening minute. Then listen to the module trying to produce midrange that it's clearly not capable of.
I was sceptical when I saw the bad postings about Bose on this forum, but they are correct.
I must say that they took the system back on their 14 day refund policy without question. If you buy to try, don't drill any holes until you are sure.
I now have a conventional very discrete system consisting of: Definitive technologey Mythos fronts and centre, Anthony Gallo nucleus rears, and a BK XLS2000 sub. Absolutely brilliant for music and movies. The Bass really is coming from everywhere. Leaving the rest of the speakers to cope with the midrange and upper levels.
The only reason that I didn't go with M&K is the looks. They are no-where near as stylish as the Def Tech/ Gallo sutup IMHO.
Send me a pm and i will send some pics if you want to see the setup.
