Hello

I am currently running
3x M&K S-150 LCR
2x M&K SS-150 Rears

Just purchased a Marantz 7011 which supports 5.2.4 Atmos and so would like to put in some height speakers without using "in ceiling" speakers.

I like the size and price of the M&K M series, and they match well aesthetically.

There isnt much info on this, where should they be installed? Are M4T tripoles recommended? Or M5s?

Many thanks
Jon

Without using in ceiling speakers the next recommended, rightly or wrongly, are upfiring Atmos enabled speakers such as the KEF R50. These should be placed on top of or as near as possible to the front and surround speakers. You have thought to use use standard speakers from the M&K range. The possible placement of these speakers would be very high up on the wall and angled towards the MLP and configured in the receiver the same as inceiling speakers. Several members employ this setup.

Other people use standard speakers as upfiring, again placed on or as near as possible to the front and surround speakers and angled upwards at around 20%. Having tried this I am not convinced that it is anywhere near as good as specialist Atmos enabled speakers.

As gibbsy has mentioned above, mount them higher up the front and rear walls and angled down towards the MLP. You'd configure them as Front and Rear Heights in the Marantz.

I have this configuration with my M&K's and it works well.

Hi Jon,

We would suggest you use a pair of M5, M7 or MP150's depending on available budget and aesthetics for both Front and Rear height duties. Please don't hesitate to get in touch if you require any further advice.

Hello

Thanks so much for advice

I've attached an image of the room. I moved all my cinema gear into a bedroom as spend most of my life chillin in bed when not working. Problem is that the bed is against the rear wall. Where would I mount the SS-150 surrounds and M4 height rears? On the side walls, rear walls or corners?

Are the front heights mounted directly above the Left and Right fronts or in the corners of room near the ceiling?

Thanks
Jon
