I wonder if 4 HMDI inputs will be an issue for some ? Always nice to avoiding HDMI switches if possible.

the 2021 is the bottom of the range of these new intermediate Lumagen products. If you need more than 4 hdmi inputs there will be the super scaler sometime around easter i expect....it'll be a lot more money though.

By intermediate I assume that means pre 4k capable models?

Sorry I am not sure what you mean...

2021 is a 2K (IE 1080P) in and out scaler.
Lumagen have announced and i have mentioned on this forum, that they are working on a 4K in and out super processor.

There will be 4K out version of 2021 (with different nomenclature) at some point but date for release and pricing is not specified yet. It will not be possible to upgrade a 2021 to 4K out spec with firmware update. hope that clears things up?

    Cheers

    Gordon

Well my own 2021 is here. i can confirm it has all the Darbee features so you can choose pop. game, or hd...You can switch it off completely or you can even do the split screen thing...and you can still use all the original Lumagen nr and sharpening stuff. All saveable on a per resoluiton and per memory basis. If i get a mo i'll take a screen shot of menu tree for darbee.

Sounds a neater way of doing things than having two boxes, plus the different settings per memory/input/resolution gives the usual highly flexible Lumagen approach to video processing that I like. However, unless there is some kind of very generous trade in then I can't see me swapping now, but Kudos to Lumagen for continuing progress.

I've put the suggested retail of the Radiance 2021 at £1995. That should be cheaper than trying to parallel import one. Also, it is likely you may be able to get slightly better price on orders placed before end of this month.

    Gordon,

I looked at your website and can't find this anywhere. Seems the US are getting an intro price around £1400, what will you be offering? PM if appropriate, Ta.

It is not on my website. You are way off the mark on pricing for USA. USA dealer price has no international shipping, then 4% duty, then 20% vat on top (of the price plus shipping plus duty).......which comes out around £1900+ if you're lucky and the foreign exchange doesn't go down again....( and don't forget you wont get the actual dollar to sterling rate...it'll be just like buying dollars at the bureau de change, your card company or bank will want to make a cut on the currency sale)

yes i know.....but you need to add over $150 shipping, then add 4% duty to that total, then add 20% vat to that total...then you work out what exchange rate you might actually achieve...and if you do all those things you will find it's over £1900....and if it goes wrong you'll be sending it back to Canada as i wont be fixing it for you...or, you could, as i've already suggested, approach a UK dealer and see what they may offer instead....you might be suprised!.....

+ 4% duty, shipping, customs handling & vat

    £1410 x 1.04 + whatever shipping + 15-25 quid handling + vat @20%

so figure around £1835 if shipping is 30 quid at least

then no warranty or backup unless you send it back to them ;)

    sorry posted after Gordon :)

Same old arguments about things being cheaper if imported from the States, but buyers then still expect UK warranties to help them out. As Gordon says have a word with a dealer and see what sort of deal they can offer.

Without wishing to cause any hassle to my dealer I didn't pay the advertised price for my Mini3D (though I bought it 2 years+ ago so I know prices have changed since then). Better yet, I helped keep a forum advertiser stay in business so he was there when I wanted to go back for a demo for something else. :smashin:

There was a similar introductory offer when the mini3d was released, and you were within this window. The mini has never returned to this price since this first month;)

Does the 2021 do 3d out of the box or is that an optional upgrade.

All new Radiance units, regardless of model, are 3D compatible. They just dropped the :3d: from the model name as they thought it would be taken as read it was 3D enabled. It's only the early XD, XS and XE that may need an update key for 3D.

    Hi,

Is the introductory offer available in UK. If so is it still on?

Do we have a trade in program with older lumagen units?

Do these new models have newer chipset? Better processing.

    Thanks

Intro offer from lumagen ended march31st.
I set UK pricing to make it competative with US pricing so you are just as well asking a UK dealer what price they can achieve.

The 2021 currently has the same processing as the XS3D you have, with exception of the darbee stuff. To put the darbee in there though they had to stick in a much bigger FPGA (the processor that runs their code). So whereas the XS3D is probably full up as far as performance additions goes, there may be room in the 2021 to add further performance enhancements. Lumagen have not guaranteed that though, it depends on how they get on optimising the code in the 2021 once it's stable.

100% agree with this, having UK support for this type of device is a no brainer for me.

Also its good to support local business where possible

    Absolutely spot on.

Gordon installed my 2021 a mere 14 days ago.
A few days later we finally sat down to watch a film and there was a lip sync problem.
I emailed Gordon at 5.45 on a Tuesday evening expecting a reply the following day.
It took Gordon all of 3 minutes to reply, we then had an email conversation as he suggested possible issues and I checked for them.
1 hour 45 mins later it was all sorted.
Now that's service you won't find very many places elsewhere.

    He's a top bloke.

Worth upgrading a Radiance XS3D for one of these? Worthy additional features?

Should I hold out for the top end model which I am guessing would replace the XE 3D+?

Can I trade one in with Lumagen for the newer model?

Well there are a few folk who have upgraded XE/XD and XS to 2021 and they all seem happy campers. The HCFR forum over in french has post by a chap who is reviewing the performance of his 2021 in comparison to his previous model and he is very very happy....and it will only get better.

I don't think i'm actually allowed to talk directly about pricing.

    Thanks Gordon, much appreciated.

I will do a bit more investigation and see about trying to get a demo of a unit. Not really sure I need to hold out for a 4K unit as my JVC projector is pseudo 4K.
