How many outputs does a Lumagen HDP have ?

I need it to output analogue (via component or VGA) to my plasma and digital (via DVI) to my Projector.....obviously, not at the same time ! :)

So, does it have two outputs ?

    Thanks for any help.

Well closer to the truth is yes & no!
The basic HDP only has 1 output - DVI-I
You can get the optional BNC outputs for component or RGB (all versions) analogue output and then the DVI has its analogue output disabled.
The SDI inputs are also an optional extra, and both of these are only available (AFAIK) before purchase and not as an after market upgrade.

    Thanks Guys.

So, let me see if I have this right.

If I order the additional BNC outputs on the scaler before purchase, it will give me the analogue out I need (via component) but the DVI output will then only do digital out as it's previous DVI(analogue) capability will be disabled !

So, end result is that I do get two outputs, one analogue and one digital (not being used at same time).....is that right ?

    Cheers

No, the HDP has phono component already, it's just the BNC type connector that is an extra

    Hmmm.......now I'm confused.

You're saying it has 'phono component already' but MarkE19 says the standard HDP has only one output, a DVI-I one (which I know can be made analogue out - but that's not what I want, as I do need two outputs !)

Thanks for the input on this though ! :)

The phono connections on the HDP are input only. The only output on the basic model is the DVI-I.
    From www.lumagen.com
No mention of any phono output.

If you feed the HDP via a DVI/HDMI connection and the source material has HDCP then the analogue outputs will be disabled - but you knew that anyway, didn't you?

    Thanks.

So, paying for a small upgrade, I can get a BNC analogue out and a DVI-I (digital only) out, which is two outputs.........correct ?

    Correct!
And with the massive amount of tinkering that is available on the Lumagens you can set each output to exactly match each display, and even set each output to different settings for a PAL & NTSC source etc etc.

Buy one - you'll love it

On the HDP I believe you can still add the BNC outputs at a later date, it is only the VisionDVI board design which now doesn't have the termination required to do this. TBH for the hassle, if you think you need BNCs might as well just get 'em stuck on!!!

    Same thing goes for SDI.

HPD has RCA connectors for it's INPUTS, and optional BNC for it's analogue output. With no output BNCs installed the DVI is DVI-I (ana or digi), with BNC output installed the DVI is relegated to digital only.

Once you've added SDI (£250) and BNC Output (£80) to the HDP (£1260) you almost might as well just go the last hog for the ProHDP (£2000) which will give you a chunk more inputs, and all the input terminals will be 75ohm BNCs. These are at current prices though.... anyone sitting on the fence might want to get an order in sooner rather than later.
