I want to rip LP's to a laptop at the best possible quality. What do I need.

I guess an external sound box, but what one? ( I have the record deck!)

    cheers

The Terratech iVinyl is very good and comes with Sound Rescue software for cleaning up the tracks. It is a phono pre-amp with USB 2.0 output. It has options for MM/MC cartridges and a ground wire post etc.

If you didn't want to buy anything though you could simply plug that would normally go to the amp on your turntable into the line in on your soundcard, then record it with Audacity. Might need some babysitting (stopping recording, naming tracks etc) but could be worth a shot.
