    I'm so tempted!

Does any one have a promo code for Ebuyer? That might just swing it for me;)

Yet another non-HD TV at a startling price. There really are 2 completely different markets opening up now. Manufacturers are dumping non-HD stock like you wouldn't believe. But the crazy thing is 99% of the population haven't caught on to HD yet, so all they see is great looking TVs at sensational prices. Does anyone think that the "HD-Ready" penny will drop soon, or is HD still a thing of the future? Fascinating times ahead methinks...

    But this isn't old stock,

It says here that Haier presented their new 'black art' line of TV's at CeBit in March.

They also state 'The 30” LCD model is able to support the HDTV standard (1920x1080)'

I know the spec sheet above isn't clear (maybe a translation issue)
but how does this TV compare to the 32" Tevion from Aldi?

It certainly looks great and it's £150 cheaper

It costs something like £730 from Haier's Chinese site, where the manual in Chinese is downloadable. You can make out that it has S-video, component (YCbCr/YPbPr), scart, VGA (640x480, 800x600, 1024x768 60Hz) and DVI inputs (one each), and it supports 480i/p, 576i/p, 720p and 1080i both 50 and 60Hz through DVI. A review in Chinese gives it 4/5 for clarity, 4/5 for colour reproduction, 5/5 for image layers/depth, 5/5 for images with motion and 5/5 for features. They also do 32" and 37" versions.

i've made quite a few purchases from e buyer and they don't have the habit of having low prices when out of stock and suddenly hiking them when they come in

but i have known some items to be overdue for a long long time :thumbsdow

i suppose these are in a container on supercarrier in the indian ocean some where

No, I wasn't suggesting they did - it's an old trade joke :)

However, I have bought a lot of stuff from Ebuyer in the last couple of years, and some of the stuff they sell isn't quite what it seems. Like the USB/Firewire External HDD box that didn't support Firewire, and the Folding Keypad for PDA's which was a model which had been withdrawn 2 years earlier ! And the PC Fan Speed Controller panel that went up in smoke when I connected it up. Stangely enough, my review on that didn't make it onto their web page

These days I prefer to wait a while and read user comments before committing myself, especially with fairly expensive items, because Ebuyer are not the easiest people in the UK to communicate with. On two occasions I had to wait 2 weeks for an e-mail to be answered.

:D yes i know e buyers decriptions can be a little misleading ordered a 64freezer from them and got a 775 one

but on the whole i've had good deals from them alot more than things going wrong from about 30 items purchased the 2 i've returned were dealt with quickly and refunded :)

    ps no i don't work for them ;) :D

Don't get me wrong - I still use Ebuyer, but these days I prefer to wait to see what other people say about stuff, especially if a deal seems to be "too good to be true". I should add that I have had some very good experiences with Ebuyer. However, £600 is a lot of money to spend, so I would proceed with a little caution. I have never had a dispute with Ebuyer that wasn't resolved (eventually), except in the case of a few "bargains" where it just wasn't worth spending money on postage to return them.

Sound output is through either the speakers or the headphone socket.

I'm glad I stuck with the Toshiba 27W55 from Pixmania. It's 27" not 30", but it was £150* cheaper than the Ebuyer TV, and it's a well-known brand name, and I've got it.

*that was including a £50 promo discount, which is not available any more, so it's £100 cheaper now.
