I thought you may like to see some pics of the (nearly) finished article before I upload the work details !
About a week before the decorator was due to arrive my lovely other half announced she would 'like the telly on the wall'

This has done the trick. I went for the now common floating wall and I chose to place all my hi-fi kit in the same cabinet.
I'll post some more before and during pics soon and then the final job when all the furniture and fittings are finalised !!

very nice mate :smashin:

Thanks for the comments, our lounge has always been very Zen and minimalistic: This is what I had originally and I planned to do a little cable management before decorating.....

Here are some of the construction pics, I started with the wall bracket as we needed to ensure that we would like the screen on the wall - no objections there from me !
I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and content of the Deco mount kit. It had the correct bolts to go into the plasma and also had a tilt bracket should I need it; that wasn't in their advertising text.

I did not want the MDF to take any of the screen's weight in case it caused flexing and cracks in the joins. So it went directly to the wall and the battens do not connect to the main frame at all.

That wasn't hard to accept, so it was on with the MDF and filler, and have another trial run.
I also added in the obligatory rope light, controlled by a dimmer - our house is run by HomeSeer, X10, RFXCOM and HomeEasy kit - more on that later.

We had to have some test runs, and the only thing on TV was the One Show !!

Next job was to organise something to house all the kit. We spotted a nice shiny black jobby in Ikea whilst on one of our many visits to the Roma branch, but never examined it closely.
When in England I looked up the item on the Ikea web site and it was described as having two draws, no mention of the cupboards, so I guessed tha there was a mistake on the web page.
Anyhow, undaunted we decided that was what we wanted and with only two days before the decorator arrived we tripped off to buy the beast. I discovered that the draws were huge big boxes on each side designed to take DVDs and CDs. Not to be defeated, I bravely said I can adapt those to my needs.......so they became doors and not draw fronts :smashin:

Nice work mate. Only question. Why 5 front speakers?

The two tall floor standing speakers are for my Hi-FI, driven by a Marantz amp.
The other three smaller speakers are for my TV driven from a Panasonic 5.1 AV Amp - soon to be replaced by Onkyo, with the speakers to be AE the same as the music.
