    Hi folks,

As mentioned my 32' CRT has just broken down(second time in 6 months) so I think it's time to make the plunge and buy a plasma.

What I'll be watching on the plasma is football and movies. I'd prefer 50', 720p resoultion. I've seen reviews on the Samsung 50Q97 and was wondering if that was still the set to buy for value? I know it just beat the Panasonic supposely in general reviews.

Any advise appreciated, abit of a emergency. Which model and where to buy would be ideal.

    Thanks in advance.

Well I've just got the PS42Q97HD and it's absolutely fantastic, unreservedly recommended. The 50" is fantastic value for money, would be top of my list that's for sure

    Cheers
    Andy

Just want to make sure but you do know the C version is a stripped down version of the Q one don't you? I'm not sure exactly what the difference is but just wanted to make sure you're aware of that

For Picture Quality believe me the Panasonic PX70 IS better than the samsung Q97.

I saw both side by side and the PX70 had smoother picture with natural colours.

    But the choice is yours.

Is your living big enough for a 50 inch ?

As you need to be around 12ft or more from the tv.

    The lounge room is 4m x 6m.

The difference between C and Q series is C series has only 2 HDMI ports instead of 3, Filterbright rather than Ultra Filterbright and tv speakers 10 w instead of 15w.

The reason I chose the C is I could get it for £900 with 5yrs warranty, I'd have to pay an extra £400 for the Q.. didnt seem worth it for an extra HDMI port and slighty improved feature. Here's a review which clearly states same screen PQ:-
