Loud buzz from tv to hifi

Hi guys.
Hope you can help me out here, but I have a pretty major problem with a system I've just set up.
I have a Kenwood hifi separates system which works fine, plays CD's, tapes etc with no problems.
I also have a TV, with a DVD player, Sky satellite receiver and VCR connected with scart leads. Again, these work fine.

My problem is that I want to get the audio from the TV setup through to my hifi.
I've tried using a stereo phono cable from a scart adapter at the TV to the hifi, as well as trying a direct phono connection from the back of the DVD player and the Sky box to the hifi.
Whichever method I use, all I get from the hifi speakers is a loud buzz, with no audio coming through at all.

Has anyone come across this before?

There are 2 video inputs: video1 and video2. I've tried both. It's connected to video1 at the moment

No matter. It turned out to be the lead itself that was faulty. After replacing it, all is fine.
