LOTR version?

Hi,

Just wondering which is the best version/region of LOTR to get?

I'm more concerend with picture and sound quality than extras.

This has already been covered to death. Region 1 is far superior

For picture quality they are about equal, if anything the R2 picture quality is better. R1 sound is much louder and sounds a little better once the sound levels have been adjusted. R1 has lip sync problems, R2 doesn't.

I have lotr r2 and on mr 36 tosh with my arcam dv88 i can see every pour and black head on the face's of the actor's on close up's.

i have the region 4 version and its good in my opinion - if any other region betters it then that version must be pretty awesome - this disc has some of the best colour i've ever seen on a dvd - especially the scenes in rivendall (spelling) - beautiful.....
