    Hi,

Has anyone managed to remove the Gollum figure from 'The Two Towers' collectors edition without destroying the packaging?
It looks like it's glued in
I tried last night, but gave up for fear of destroying the box.
If anyone has managed it, please let me know how you did it.

John, you may need to go through the bottom (as with so many other things in life :D ) i found it very difficult to remove, but i did rip part of the base of the box.

    Good luck

Same with the R1, the plastic packaging stuff around the base of the statue was glued to the box.

It seems such a shame to destroy such well crafted packaging :(

My argonath from FOTR-CE are still residing in their box (cable ties and all)

i hacked about at the foam with a craft knife - there is a plastic cable ties buried in there somewhere which hold s the foam together - find that - snip it - and bob should be your uncle !!

The R1 is the same. I took a JML kitchen knife (VERY sharp) and cut diagonally across the polystyrene in an "X" and chearing the cable tie in the process. The statue simply lifted out then. See, simple. :D

Why they didn't package it with clear plastic and cable ties like the Argonath statues is beyond me

I also found that putting a long sharp knife between the flaps in the base of the box helps to cut a lot of the glue before you go in through the base. This makes opening the base a bit easier and the inside doesn't get too torn up.

There certainly wasn't any danger of it coming loose it transit...I was about to look for a recipe for Napalm before I saw the sideshowtoy link.
