Go to www.dvd.co.uk and on their top selling list click on LOTR TTT or on the TTT advertising bar near the top

i read the thread over at dvdforums about this..... there was alot of talk of the packaging and R1 mentioned. Seeing as the thread manages now to be about 10 pages, can anyone tell me what the packaging question is about?! Is the R2 crap packaging and the R1 better?

If the R1 is better, what is wrong with getting it from dvdsoon, they will mark it as worth $12 so you should be ok on customs shouldnt you?

I think the assumption has been made that because the R1 Fellowship was superior to the R2 equivalent that this will also be the case for the Two Towers release. I hope so.

Basically, the R1 Fellowship boxed (although looking identical from a distance) was, in fact, a lot sturdier and better made than the R2 version. The spine of the box was free from the "tuck in flap" that R2 has -- looks so much better when sat on the shelf.

I have R1 of FOTR, and of course I have pre-ordered TTT R1 from dvdsoon, but I'm sure that are many here that still wants R2.

Here is the famous test between R1 & R4 FOTR which discovered sound errors.
    http://www.michaeldvd.com.au/Reviews/Reviews.asp?ReviewID=2244

But in the new test of the 2disc TTT between R1 and R4, he favours this time R4.
    http://www.michaeldvd.com.au/Reviews/Reviews.asp?ID=3335

So good news for R2 buyers.

This leaves the advantages this year only down to packaging and price, which for me is still important enough to favour R1. However, as I mentioned, there are plenty of members here that will go for R2.

Thanks, just opened a new account with them. £17.99 is about what you would expect to pay in the bargain bins after new year 2005.

    driver8,

    Dear me, I wonder why?

It must be a huge loss leader for them, but who knows they might take it as a marketing ploy, to make themselves better known in this fierce market place of selling dvds.

Well, too bad that most of us are not mega loyal to one dvd retailer.

Just ordered mine. It does say that delivery to the EU is £2. Am I being thick - does this just mena other EU countries or will we actually get charged £19.99?

    Edit:

Sorry, just got my confirmation email and the total bill is £17.99.
    Absolute bargain! Cheers Wasabi.

does 'pending' mean its not even been processed yet? if id known that ordering on the 1st nov would still mean being delayed i would have paid a couple of quid extra for it :(

emailed them asking whats going on but havent got a reply...
