Lost subs - hardware or the disk?

Mark Bennett

I just had a load (well 7 actually) DVDs sent over from Hong Kong of various weird and wonderfull films I was after from an Ebay seller of high repute/recommendation.

Now watching on my Mico 890a I noticed I periodically lost the subtitling sporatically throughout the film.

I can't figure out if it's a **** DVD or a **** DVD player. This has happened on two of the disks I've watched so far.

One of the english ones I noticed developed an odd prob of pausing and then leaping forward a few second's. After switching off for awhile it was OK.

I noticed some other posts about subtitles being lost so I'm begining to wonder if in fact it's not the disk afterall, even tho they came in cardboard cases and I believe are Korean releases, vs the Hong Kong ones I normally get.

Anyone have similar problems? Should I make sure I only get HK releases?
