Shouldn't a game get more difficult the further you go though?
Tends to be a tipping point for any game that has upgrade trees based on XP, typically RPG, once you level your characters components to a point better than the environment, you start kicking ass. Sometimes games get round this with ridiculously powerful bosses.
Also it's the user learning the mechanics, what powers/weapons sync well with your play style etc.
Don't get me wrong; muck up and the game will brutally kill you in the blink of an eye. But likewise, get it right, and i can stroll thru a handful of enemies slaying left and right
First play thru i did everything, searched every corner, entered every hole: took about 30 hours. Then did NG+, with all my overpowers weapons and runes, meant i was blitzing in under 3 hours. Then did a warrior play thru which was about 5 hours.
Surprisingly enjoyable, but story is totally forgettable, and it's not really a RPG.
I enjoyed it,but not enough for a second play through, and the camera really pissed me off sometimes but still a game worth a play through.
Finished this a couple of weeks ago and I put about 25 hours in all told, alot of that I spent just wandering around smahing peoples faces in, espeacially when I got the Polearm, great weapon, I enjoyed it, its not perfect and it has about as much depth as a puddle but it was great fun.
think I will grab a copy of this now it can be got 2nd hand at decent price. Not expecting it to be a Dark Souls beater, but a bit of fun, so don't think I can lose really.
@silvercue, FWIW I think you'll enjoy it.
I picked a copy cheaply (albeit on X1) and am enjoying it. It's not as good as Souls (at least IMO) but it's still pretty good. I haven't played too much of it though, TBH - maybe 3-4 hours, with a fair chunk of grinding in that to level up to take on the second boss. The Last of Us is rather monopolising my gaming time at the minute....
Is it more action rpg than dark souls with lots of grinding?
Not much grinding, more actiony then Dark Souls though
just got a copy. Awaiting delivery
I am enjoying this. It does some things well. For me its main strength is also its main weakness and that is the total and utter copy and paste of Dark Souls.
That makes it good if you like Dark Souls, but the level of how much the have copied it is frightening IMO and it means you can't help but compare and it will always fall short in that comparison.
Also feels to me that some weps are simply not going to work with the bosses, even though they are well in your wieight limit. My main issue is the fact that enemy encounters so far are most easily won by trying to circle them - and the way the game deals with that looks ridiculous - - like people dancing with each other.
Overall, it is fun though and a decent game, though I will play through once and sell I am sure.
I felt the same about the game,it got easier as the game went on,no replay value at all,but a pretty good game to play.and a good game to play before bloodbourne to get your lost souls fix.
Picked this up a few days ago. Maybe about 3 hours in to it so far but probably (for me anyway) the most underrated game so far this generation. I probably look on a bit more favourably than when it first came out because from what I can tell I'm playing with all the patches which improves performance and what have you but I'm finding this game great so far. Its a lot like Dark Souls but slightly more simplistic. You don't have to be on your guard quite as much this time around.
Bought it in one of the recent sales for £16.99, thoroughly worth it! The art style reminds me a lot of Darksiders for some reason.
I liked it, but now, post-Bloodborne, it really isn't as good a package. Mechanically its good, but the story and level design felt dated/regurg... £16.99 is a good price for value.
I bloody well loved this I just walked around levelling up for hours and all the bosses were never so frustrating that I wanted to quit, funny I don't fancy Bloodbourne because it's just to unforgiving and I am not one of these gamers who seem to be able to breeze through these games playing with their big toe.
I thought this was a bit average myself. Combat was quite good but the world and enemies were too generic and the voice acting and some visuals were extremely questionable. They are doing a sequel so hopefully they can improve on it. What have they patched on this game? Might revisit it in the future.
They've patched the visuals by all accounts. I never tried it pre patch so don't know what difference it made but for the most part now the performance is solid whereas I've read it was very iffy to begin with. There is a setting that has been added as well to take off some weird post processing called Chromashift? Apparently no one liked that on release. But there is a big difference to the graphics with that disabled. Everything is sharper and more defined.
£16.99 is a good price. Glad your enjoying it mate. That's the main thing. I'm a bit anal with these types of games now. Dark souls just won't be beaten in my eyes and I know it's unfair to compare games but I just can't help it. I'm such a from software groupie
Are you desperately awaiting the next Armored Core game then?
I can't believe we're pushing to the second year, and there's no next/current-gen mecha games out yet! Chromehounds was what i got a 360 for, but no announcement of AC6 yet. Soul's games are good, but AC is what FROM is about to me - come on Miyazaki
So the game is similar to Dark Souls? I played this for a little over an hour last night and although I died quite a bit, I finally found the motion to perform well. Granted I picked the Cleric style which I always pick if given the chance in games so I probably made it harder for myself. Maybe I might endeavor into a looksie of DSIII and Bloodborne because this playstyle isn't too bad. But the banking of exp is weird.
Combat is similar but that's as far as the comparisons go. The souls games are far better in every single way.
YOU'RE FAR BETTER IN EVERY SINGLE WAY...
I don't disagree with @addyb but I think he's perhaps being slightly unfair to LotF.
Yes, it suffers in comparison if you've played the Souls games - it's clearly owes a substantial debt to Souls - but it's a perfectly decent and playable game in its own right.
It only feels slightly lacking if you're starting from a position where Souls is the (impossibly high) yardstick.
I guess if I'd never played souls I might like it more but whilst it is indeed a perfectly decent game I just couldn't take to it that well.
Picked up a copy of this, not sure about it. Seems very sluggish after playing Bloodborne for a bit. Any suggestions?
Remove disc from ps4.
Get rid of game
Never ever admit to anyone that you played it.
Lol i was waiting for your reply
Not bad advice from addyb, trying to play and have fun with this is hard work! Feels like the main character is stuck in treacle!
Does Dark Souls feel as slow compared to Bloodborne like this?
Separate names with a comma.
