Next weeks Film 2003 will be a Lord Of The Rings Special at 23.30 Tuesday.
And also there's a 'Behind the scenes' special on ITV2 on Sunday 14th at 7.30pm which is repeated the following Tues at 11.30pm.
I am so tempted to watch these but, not having a clue
as to how the film turns out, I am afraid that too much of
the storyline will be revealed. I will be taping them though
and watch them after I have seen ROTK.
God, it's hard trying to avoid spoilers!
Good point bowenjones, I want to get to watch the film ASAP.
I think it'll be difficult trying to avoid people talking about it, either on the net, the TV or in the real world !
Tell me about it!
There's this girl who I work with and she absolutely raves
about the books. She respects the fact that I don't want to know
how it ends but whenever we have a discussion about the films
she always seems to inadvertantly say something that happens
in ROTK! Luckily, she hasn't given away anything that could be
described as a major spoiler but it only goes to show how hard it
is to avoid these things!
The only reason I even looked at this thread is because Garrett
posted it and I knew he wouldn't give anything away.
It was only last week that I accidentally read a thread about Saruman in ROTK. Foolishly, I posted a reply that put the spoiler out in the open! It's so easily done.
Even the extras on TTT EE gave away some minor spoilers
regarding ROTK which i'd rather not have seen.
Only 10 more days to go before I can finally un-plug my ears
and take this proverbial blindfold off!
Read the Sun yesterday, which contained a peice with Liv Tyler, she managed to give me one big spoiler, so I now know one person who dies.
I actually bought the Trilogy Book just after I watched Fellowship of the Ring and havent even finished Return of the King yet, only about a chapter from the end, just havent found time to pick it up again but I better finish it before I see the film next thursday.
Is it all three books in one by Harper Collins?
I ask 'cos I want to put this on me Xmas list.
I saw it in WH Smith's the other day, titled 'LOTR One Voume Edition' (something like that). It said it included all three books with 'unabridged text' (?). But it didn't look thick enough for all three and was only priced at £14.99.
What do you (or anybody) suggest?
Should I go for this edition or all three seperate?
There are several variations .. this page at Amazon is a good place to discover what options there are. I have the3-volume Harper's edition , largely for the increased font size for my old eys .
I got the HB Harper Collins one last year cost £35 proper price is £50 it is a lovely book and has lots pages with gloss picture prints, something to value. See here. Free postage on it as well.
There is also a Hobbit book by the same artist here for £17.50 that £7.50 off the rrp but I have seen thiis one in those cheap bookshops less than £10.
