Anyone here interested in this?
If so are you applting for Beta? I have applied US and UK...
I've applied for Beta, been following development for a while. Should be good when released, aslong as they've got a good PvP system in place.
Also applied for the European Beta , LOTR forum name Hibernia.
Been looking for something apart from WoW to ween me away from City of Heros. Not 100% sure this will do the trick but will certainly give it a whirl.
Well this is out on Tuesday 24th April (weird). So the game has had above average reviews.
But will it be enough to defer current Guild war and WoW players. Will be interesting to see opinions and maybe a free trial period would help.
My order for this went to dispatched today from Play. Liked WoW but the world didnt really have a true story - as this is similar to Warcraft and i'm a Tolkien fan, should be decent.
There has been a sort of free trial running for it since last Saturday. Free as in if you bought the £1.99 Early Release box you could play from last weekend till the games official launch next week.
I would stop playing Guild Wars for it , though Guild Wars is free
Never played WoW more than a few days trial though guys i've played with find the community especially a lot more friendly vbut i've no personal experience with this.
After playing the Beta and the recent "Early Release" i'm still not sure if it will take me away from City of Heroes which has been my home for the last 2 years. Early days in the games life yet though but i do like it so far...
Tis a bit less cartoony than WoW - I'm on it now as I had the preorder package, and it looks quite well balanced between classes etc.
Still trying to gauge how much genuine LOTR atmosphere there is in it, but there is already news of extra free content on the website.
GP - glad to see you are still playing CoH...unfortunately I hung the spandex up for the final time.
Aww Pie Man
Maybe see running round Bree sometime matey
Will keep my sub going for CoX and see how LOTR pans out after 6 months but yeah i'm still enjoying the Spandex escapades. Bit surpriseing really , i've never stuck with one particular game this long in over 30 years off gameing.
Sure will GP - PM me if you take the train to Middle Earth
I'm thinking of getting into this. Quit WoW for good since September and have been meaning to find another MMO to dig into.
Just wondering is there a free month with the game's purchase? Couldn't exactly find any details about this except I know there's 45 days free with the limited edition, but that boxset is pretty expensive.
When I looked at the back of box in GAME the other day it did say 30 days free online play and this was just the normal retail version.
Fancy giving this a go myself when I completely finish Oblivion...
Yep indeed , the back of the regular edition states 30 days free play.
I'm certain as you've played MMO's before you'll know within 30 days wether it's for you or not.I'm really enjoying the experience , maybe especially as i never played WoW so this genre of MMO is new to me.
Ah, so you got on the train, GP
i've got a couple of lvl 8's, one on Snowbourn and one on the RP server - let me know if you're around and we can swap tales of laser shooting eyes while battering wolves with big swords
If anyone who has bought the game has a Buddy Key and no one in mind to give it to i would greatly appreciate it if you could PM it to me. This seems to be the game to draw me away from WoW, but i wont buy it without having played a trial first and unfortunately do not know anyone who has bought it.
Eurogamer gave this a pretty positive 9/10. I'm still waiting on the PC Gamer review. Is it true that a lot more of the game is instanced, which sounds good to me? Hopefully it can strike a good blend between the grind of WoW and the instanced dungeons of Guild Wars.
Got my copy yesterday, but I'm not going to open it... I have finals this month lol!
Just out of interest what servers are you guys on? I was thinking of the Eldar server (according to the official site) but it would be nice to be on a server with other AVF'ers.
I'm on Snowbourn
I've ordered my copy from play the other day, should have it for monday night! Well looking forward to playing the game. Let me know if anyone fancies getting an AVFORUMS Fellowship together as would love to join in with other AVF'ers.
Cheers for now!
I want the game horribly bad but havent made the trip or figured if it was worth it. Just wanted to know a few things about the game itself. (What level do I get certain things like a horse, specific items etc.) I am leaving WoW... I have had enough of the bloody children flooding the chat. Also I was in an end game guild that died as soon as the burning crusade came about. Blizzard clearly pulled the old microsoft trick.. (Force upgrades otherwise you dont go on) Now that I finally see how LOTRO has become I want to join but am hesitant as said before. Please send me a link to watch a video of gameplay or some info about the game.. I do have some questions to ask for anyone whos up to it thanks for your time. PM with some answers
Never played WoW myself longer than a 10 day trial ages ago so can't really make any comparisions.
The horse is something you have to buy for around 4 gold pieces i think it is. Doesn't sound a lot but it is.I expect around the mid 30's to hopefully have some gold but till then it's a bit of a trudge though the games setting from the Mountains where it's all snowy down through the peaceful Shire full of lazy Hobbits into the empty Lone Lands does make the hike to me any ways really nice.
The official European site for LOTR has loads of links and downloadable content for you to look through.
Theres a link in there through to the forums where it's worth looking through some threads , loads of info in there.
One small warning just now though. Codemasters are having a lot login problems just now which is really starting to get annoying. Normal i guess for an MMO launch and hopefully will settle down but still 4 major issues in a week or so and not being able to play for hours at a time is frustrating.
Despite that , when i am on it's great fun especialy if your a LOTR fan of any kind
Im getting really annoyed at play.com!
Still haven't received it through the post yet, am itching to get online but goodness knows when the disc is going to turn up!!?!!
Look out for Weebl then
Does anyone have a spare buddy key they can pm to me?
Had the game a few days now, only a casual gamer so only upto level 12 with my Elf Hunter at the moment, but thoroughly enjoying it
Playing on: Eldar
Still haven't received mine from PLAY!!!!!!!!!!
Anyone got a spare buddy key as am itching to get playing?!
I guess I'd have to download the game itself if someone could spare a key?
Thanks for any help/info.
Ps: Has anyone else had stuff get lost in the post from Play?!
Never played WoW but was in EQ2 Beta and played until Dec last year, was waiting for Warhammer online but this looks interesting
Any EQ2 players care to comment on how this compares?
I have just started this last night, cancelled my WoW account bored of it now.
Got a lvl 7 Elf Hunter on Eldar, plus a fancy hat
I've had two dvds get lost in the post from play. Though I'm not sure 'lost' is the right word, not that I'm accusing anyone of anything *cough, cough*
If they would send stuff through in plain envelopes, not have PLAY written on the outside, I'm sure less stuff would go missing.
They have PLAY written on the outside?!?
GREAT! no wonder I still haven't got it! Looks like I'll have to buy it elsewhere as want to get on tonight! I'll have to wait 21 days according to Play website before I can claim for it. DOH!
Oh well, Thanks for the info.
May see you online soon..
Your not looking for a Kinship are you for Weebl?
The Liberty Legion from Heroes has quite a large one going just now , great bunch of guys. Very helpful for crafting needs , amour, weapons etc and a lvl range from 1 up to 40 ish just now.
Gimmie a shout if interested , always room for an ex Spandex wearer
