I was watching the extended version last night after a long time and I seem to have a problem. During the scene where the chaps meet the elven domain in the forest the dvd just goes crazy - speech starts to break up, then blocks start to appear, it gets worse for the complete scene upto the point where Sauramen talks to the Urukai and then the dvd just freezes.

I cant stop the film or ff or rw and have to turn the dvd player off and use scene select to go to the next bit.

Any ideas? is it a duff disc (no scratches at the back) ? or something more sinister??

Does sound like a duff disc. What DVD player is it?

The same thing has happened to me, but at a different scene. I don't think its the DVD player. As I have watch it a few times then watched it with all 4 of the commentaries. No problems, Then I put the disc in the other week and I got a complete freeze up near the end of disc 1.

    Its a JVC XVS30 dvd/video combi multiregion.
Funny thing I was watching Man on Fire on rental yesterday with the wife and the same thing happened. Then she mentions that its happened a couple of times to her bollywood films.
