Looking to invest in a Japanese VCR, VHS ripping setup

Hello there!
I have a collection of Japanese VHS tapes. I'd love to digitise them in the best quality possible. But I have zero knowledge of VCR's and VHS ripping... I'm willing to invest in a complete setup to do it with very high quality. Does anybody have a list of the best VCR's to read Japanese VHS tapes? What kind of region locking do Japanese VHS tapes have? Are there any other devices I need than a VCR? What kind of cables? Any other devices to combine it with, such as a "Time base corrector"? (I heard of that, but I don't know what it does). Any other devices? And what software would I need, is OBS fine, or are there better ones?

Thanks so much for anyone who is willing to take some time to help me with this!
