What are peoples favourite 'must have', 'couldn't live without' cds?

I'm looking to expand my collection AND tastes, so let me know - will listen to ANYTHING from classical, break beat, soul, indie music, blues, house, jazz, heavy metal, trip hop etc.

Cheers.

Jeff Buckley - Grace
Depeche Mode - Songs of Faith and Devotion
Primus - Suck On This
Nine Inch Nails - The Fragile

Cheers folks, that's given me a bit of fodder for my collection! :D

Anybody else got any 'all time favourite cds' list them here PLEASE!

Ta!

Incubus- SCIENCE/make yourself/morning view (any of em, really)
Supergrass- In it for the money
Ian Pooley- Since Then
Jimmy Eat World- Bleed American (now changed to "Jimmy Eat World")

If you like house/trance you can't go wrong with the "Global Underground" series featuring top DJ's playing live in diff. venues around the world. I think they're up to about Vol. 18 (?) now:cool: . For slightly harder tunes try React or Perfecto lables stuff too.

I bought a best of UFO recently about £6 for 17 songs including Doctor Doctor and Only You Can Rock Me

great 70s & 80s heavy rock

Can't keep up with all this new stuff. For pure class try Led Zeppelin Remasters double CD, Deep Purple Live in Japan, Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon. That sort of music lasts forever. Most new stuff I've got into is great but only for a while.

My 'MUST' have albums:

The Beta Band - The 3 EP's
The Handsome Family - In The Air
The Handsome Family -Through The trees
Pink Floyd - Meddle
Kate Bush - The Hounds Of Love
Slayer - Reign in Blood
Smashing Pumpkins - Gish

and of course Pink Floyd - The Wall

Here's a broad mix:

Julian Cope - Jehovahkill (but I can't find a new copy anywhere!!)
Eels - Souljacker
Primal Scream - Screamadelica
Alabama 3 - Exhile on Coldharbour Lane
Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - The Boatman's Call
Primus - Pork Soda (what? I 5ft tall, fretless bass?)
Jethro Tull - Stand Up, and This Was

New Peter Gabriel album is pretty great, too.

Apollo by Brian Eno
Selected Ambient Works Vol 1 by Aphex Twin
UFOrb by The Orb
Passion by Peter Gabriel
A Collection of Short Stories by Reload
The Nephilim by Fields Of The Nephilim
More by Pink Floyd
Sorceror by Tangerine Dream
Rubicon by Tangerine Dream
Warrior on the Edge of Time by Hawkwind
15 Levels of Magnification by Neotropic
La Prochaine Fois by Neotropic
Fantastic Voyage by Prince Charming
Clouddead by Clouddead

anything by Jessica Bailiff, Robert Rich, Steve Roach, Lustmord, Thomas Koner....

I'll stop there or I could be here all day.

A few I could not live without:

Kiss - Alive II
Jellyfish - Bellybutton
Beastie Boys - Paul's Boutique
Nine Inch Nails - Pretty Hate Machine

Aimee Mann - Batchelor no2
Cure - Disintegration

A few suggestions from me:-

Stampin' Ground - Carved From Empty Words

Iced Earth - Alive in Athens
Mudvayne - L.D. 50

That's a few that I never get bored of.

Can't believe I forgot to put that in my list, probably the best of all the albums mentioned in this entire thread!

Also strongly advise getting hold of JA's 'Nothing Shocking'. Listening to those two albums one after another is truly a unique, immersive and sublime audio experience :)

Have to agree with Jane's Addiction too - also check out the red hot chillie peppers 'Californication'
I personally could not live without Adrian Legg's 'Guitar for Mortals' CD - it is simply awe inspiring.

If you like, funked up house, raw analogue bass, clinical production & synth soaked stabs.............................................. give Felix & Simon a.k.a Basement Jaxx a try.

Albums = Remedy & Rooty.

Incredibly under-rated & very unique.

Adzman...

Not so sure about that. I bought Remedy and was massively disappointed, the only decent track is 'Always Be There' or something.

Surely Cassius are far better than Basement Jaxx out of those 'funky' chart dance acts?

It certainly looks like English, but I didn't understand a word.

Juboy..
Cassius?.....typical French disco house (although very groovy)

However, Basement Jaxx have their own style.
Their tunes are busy, involved & very funky crossing many genres.
The production is clinical & they have terrific melody's with some weird & wonderful vocal stabs..
Basically, i think they stick their fingers up @ the bog standard
4x4 house tunes......
Have you tried Rooty?....

They are one of the only artists i will buy without hearing.
I love their funked up style...........& their rowdy party vibe.
They must spend a while tweaking with their synths

Just my view of course

Forgot to mention a couple...

Muse - Origin of Symmetry
Martin Grech - Open Heart Zoo

no doubt there will be more!
