Looking to build a state of the art HTPC....

    Can anyone point me in the direction of what i need/where to find it. I have a 50" Pioneer plasma which i would like to maximise (scaling etc) so any help would be appreciated.

    What resolution is your Plasma? Can it accept native-resolution via DVI or VGA? I ma aware that there's at least one plasma that can't and that hampers getting a really good image.

    How much experience of PCs do you have? Helps is knowing what level of info you need :)

    The main tool people use as you probably know by now is FFDSHOW there are many thread discussing it, the usual starting point is this 'how to'.

    I use HTPC to drive Fujitsu 50". works well with either VGA or DVI, except that DVI input does not trigger display power off on PC shutdown.

    Video card in Radeon 9700.

    You don't need to be particularly state-of-the-art to get a really good picture.

    How much dosh are you going to spend

    Probably about £1,000 Andy.....I have absolutly zero knowledge regarding this project,but i know a man who has ;) He is extremely capable with pc`s but hasnt branched into HTPC`s yet....

    Hi KraGorn,
    according to Gordon,my plasma should accept native res on pc/VGA (but not through HDMI)
