Looking for very good display without bells and whistles

Standard Member
Looking to get the best possible screen I can get for my budget of around £1000-1200.

Screen will be hooked up to HTPC so not worried about extras, sound etc. as this is all seperate looking to get the best display I can for the money.

Won't be going into a huge room so I think 42-50"range would suit.

I'm trawling through the forums and review but looking for some solid advice as well. I'm open to all formats and platforms.

SD Television
HD Television
SD Movies
HD Movies
3D TV/Movies

The best that anyone could say is that they have had some specific models of some specific makes, and those have been good for them.
That wouldn't count as advice in my book, solid or otherwise, and the best advice imho is to look at as many TVs as you can on the makers' websites, and compare their specifications and prices - facts mean a lot more than peoples' experiences, or opinions.
