    Hi
I'm looking to buy a new NEC ND-1300A writer.
Could anyone point me toward a keenly priced source please.

    Many thanks

    Hi,

The best price I could find after a quick look around was at aria.co.uk £131.55 inc shipping for the oem drive. I think that price is only valid today though.

    Best price is at www.ebuyer.com
    £121.44 + £3.99 p+p

Considering I payed £180 for my drive in April this is an amazing price. Now if only the good blank +R discs would come down in price :)

    Thanks for the info.
Any owners of this machine got any negative opinions regarding performance.
I have been following the debate about quality of discs on the Firmware flash forum site here and the biggest complaint seems to be media compatability.
I would appreciate opinions on which cheap discs to buy that are appropiate and successful to burn to.

    Cheers
    Mark:p

I only use +R media on it and I've yet to find a blank that doesn't play on my Xbox/PS2 or Tag DVD32R.

Since I also have a Pioneer 104 I've never used -R's on the 1300 and I think you'll find that 99% of media problems on the NEC are from -R & -RW media.

There is a new firmware out for the drive, but I haven't read the forums for a while to see if it is solving any of the problems people were having. Still at under £130 you'll not get a better DVD burner than the NEC.
