    Hello

I am new to this forum and I am hoping that someone can point me in the right direction. I am desperate to buy a 17" LCD tv that has freeview installed. I am however having real problems locating such a product. can anyone help, :lease:

Toshiba do one called the 17WLT46. Do not confuse this with the cheaper 17WL46, which is the same set without the freeview tuner.

The Panasonic range includes some models with a freeview tuner, but I am not sure if they do a 17" one.

Does anybody make an LCD TV of any size with HDMI and Freeview? Digital screens with digital tuners and digital inputs can't be that hard can it?

Well you'd think so, but I don't think there's even a DVD-recorder with built-in digital tuner yet (or at least wasn't last time I looked).

There's a review of the Toshiba 17WLT46 in this months What HiFi magazine. The review doesn't really tell me what I'd want to know which is typical of that magazine!

I'd want to know a bit more about the DVB tuner - does it support the 7 day EPG, how fast is the MHEG text, is the a common interface slot.

They do however seem to like this set.

There's also a proper review of the non IDTV 17WL46 in this forum (taken from What Video May 2004), which mentions problems with anamorphic pictures - circles that look oval, not acceptable IMHO!

Humax do a 17" LCD with built in Freeview tuner (LB-17E) and have a complete new range of LCD tv's 17", 20", 26" and 32" all with built in Freeview tuner and DVI-D (no DVI on the 17") inputs due at the start of 2005. One of the 26" models and the 32" model also has a built in 40GB PVR.

    Check out the details:

I've been looking into the exact same thing and have gone for the Tosh. Ordered it from John Lewis today and was happy to pay their price of £699 because of the free delivery and 5 year warranty. It came out on top in the What Hifi review whereas the Humax didn't get too good a write-up. It has a CAM slot for a Top Up TV card and I'm not too bothered about the anamorphic foible as it will only be used as a TV.

Good to see the Tosh has a CAM slot! However concerning the anamorphic foible. As the main terestrial channels are are widescreen (anamorphic), should this model be afflicted in the same way as the 17WL46 then presumably you might notice this problem too!

I'm also concidering the Tosh for a bedroom set, but want to see a proper review in something like What Video before jumping in - just so I can see where I stand.
