Looking for Laguna brake pads (possibly discs as well)

Going to have to replace my rear brake pads soon and also have the passenger side rear bearing that needs replacing. Car is a 53 plate Laguna 2.2 dCi.

Hoping to get the same Renault pads and was looking on eBay when I came across the below:
LAGUNA 1.9 2.2DCI V6 FRONT & REAR BRAKE DISCS & PADS on eBay (end time 13-Dec-10 14:35:41 GMT)

Front and Rear discs and pads and says the discs have the bearings for £165 delivered. Does put me off that all but the rear discs arent OEM or a well known brand though. Would this be an issue?

Anyone know of any good places that do OEM or decent brands at good prices for pads and discs? Dont have to be in sets, pads are the priority at the moment.

Yet to get prices from mechanics but the more money I can save, the better.

Thanks

Check out these guys....www.brakesinternational.co.uk

I use loads of these discs, yours are the ones with rears that have the bearing complete with the disc?
I have 2 lots of these to fit tomorrow and 2 lots friday on Nissan Primastar /Renault Trafic vans....they are the same discs and pads if I recall correctly.
Mintex are as good as any, you don't usually get brake parts that are made by the car maker, they would nearly always be from people such as Bendix, Lucas and such.
These Primastar vans I do have Ferodo/Lucas fitted from new.
If I'm correct, make sure the ABS ring is fitted to the discs you buy.

Cheers. Had them checked and will be replacing the rear discs and pads for now. Mechanic has quoted £200 for parts and labour.

The discs are the ones with the bearing and ABS thingy.

Checked brakes international and parts come to £140 delivered. Got a garage to ask tomorrow and see if I can get anything lower.

Sounds about right.
I have a Nissan Primera hatchback, 54 reg. 2.2 dCi which probably has very similar brakes.
For convenience, I used a local Kwik-Fit (walking distance from me).
New rear discs and pads (fitted) came to £210.55.

Wow. I just thought I'd phone Kwikfit to see what they charge. They said £375! Although the guy said it could be cheaper but they would need to measure the brakes to get a more accurate price.

Yes, £200 including the pads fitted is about right, it's close to what I charge.

If I remember correctly (and sean can testify to my poor memory :D), the dealers charge around £180 plus vat just for the discs, but it's a long while since I got a dealer quote.

I was looking on eBay and Renault Wolverhampton are actually selling the rear discs and pads for £122 and £7 shipping but I can collect. They do mention that they have the bearings included but nothing about the ABS.

I see the ABS thing mentioned a lot. Most places call it the ABS ring, I'm guessing they are all one and the same?

Yeah, there is a metal ring with square slots in it at the inner part of the brake disc, you need to buy discs with this fitted as you can't buy new rings for these, you would have to take off the old ring and heat shrink it onto the new disc, I promise you, you wouldn't want to do that.
Dealer supplied discs will have the ABS ring fitted, but check first, that is a very good price from the dealer, I pay just about £100 trade price for discs and pads for these.
BTW, it's very simple job to replace these discs and pads, as long as you have a 36mm socket and a large breaker bar, the nuts are very tight.

Asked another garage who said £220 or just £40 for labour if I supply the parts.

Getting THESE which I confirmed with Renault Wolverhampton that they are the right ones for my car.

Overall price down to £162 so all is good.

Also, one of the rear bearings is on its way so that will also get sorted with this. I thought it was a seperate bearing and was bracing myself for an extra bill of £120.

Great stuff

I have another set of these to fit on monday, did 2 lots yesterday, they appear to be a weakness on these cars.

For me its just because they discs have never been changed on mine. Car has done 77k now. Brakes have been changed once. Discs are getting rusted though.

The bearing I think was heavily weakened by a beast of a pothole I hit some months back. Already had 2 bearings changed because of it. :thumbsdow
