I've been using a canon sx220 for gig photography for a while, with reasonable results. I like the level of zoom on it and knocking the iso up doesn't make the pics don't become too grainy.

Question is, seeing as this camera is nearly 4 years old, there anything out there around the £300 - £400 mark that would be an upgrade. It'd need to be fairly small (fit into a hoodie or jacket pocket), reasonable in low light (I'm not expecting miracles here).

The usual suspect at this price is the rx100 but this only has a 4x zoom. 14x zoom and large sensor (for low light photos) and large aperture are not usually found together. You may find that thebetter sensor with a smaller zoom can be cropped to match your longer zoom.

So, when looking the things to look out for are -
    Sensor size 1/1.7, 2/3 or 1"
Lens with max aperture of f2.8 or larger i.e. Smaller number like f2.0
Then zoom, wifi, burst mode speed, panoramic, hdr etc. are down to preference.

Snapsort.com is a good spec comoarison tool and have read of snerklers camera chooser sticky as well.

Coolpix p7800 or older p7700 may be worth a look.

Hope this helps get the ball rolling.
