I have been approached by a manufacturer who has developed a great little box of tricks. Basically it's a digital in/out delay/switcher that will also re-clock and de-jitter the signal in the process. Each input can have it's own assignable delay time up to 2.5-3 seconds in millisecond steps. This is handy as DVD and Sky etc often require quite different delays.

I want to know whether any/many of you would purchase such a device?

    Here are the specs:
    (4) coax SPDIF inputs
    (3) toslink SPDIF inputs
    (2) SPDIF outputs (coax/toslink)

    - IR receiver and remote
    - LCD display to show input selected and how many ms in delay for that input
    - channel select and up/dwn buttons on front panel
    - RS232 jack on back for Crestron type control

    Functions:

    - up to 24/192 rates
    - ACS/DTS, PCM
    - delay up to 3 seconds with AC3 / around 2.5 seconds for DTS
    - adjustable in milliseconds
    - reclocks signal and dejitters
    - dejitters incoming stream to below 200ps on output

Hoping for £400 or less retail

Did this idea ever get anywhere?

Are there any other solutions available for digital audio delay??

    Thanks

The annoying thing is, I've got a Meridian 561 (RRP £3k) and that doesn't have any decent delay on it!

The unit is going to be shown in finished form this week at CES in Vegas. I will be there. I will have pics. Hopefully it will be cheaper than I speculated.

I,m with magking, as I to don't want to upgrade my amp.I am currently using my amp as a video switcher with 2 components in,and a component to VGA out, on the audio side I have 1 optical in from SKY+, and coax in from my dvd player, will this device fit in with this ?
I do expect you won't be able to answer this until you see the product in full and ask questions,it would be nice to know though :smashin: .
By the way who is the mystery manufacturer ? , I'm dying to know ;)
    Many thanks.

    how will this work?

it's placed between the source and the av?

the outputs are SPDIF, do most av receivers have those kind of inputs?

As allways I didn't read Gordon's post properly, and now I understand the conncetions he means(I hope the following helps Mutley :) ).
On the input side it has 4 digital COAX and 3 OPTICAL(or toslink)
On the output it has 1 digital COAX and 1 OPTICAL(or toslink).
I admit I had to go and investigate, as my train of thought was the connections inside a PC not on Home Cinema equipment, that will teach me to read the post properly next time :suicide: :rotfl: .
    I hope this helps.

i might be interested provided there are at least two separate inputs/outputs that can be individually delayed. gordon do you know if this is the case?

Each input can have it's own seperate programmeable delay. It is IR controlled. 5 in. Might add analogue input too at some point but not initially. Pricing for UK wil be available in coming 7-14 days.

analogue input is important for all us NTL owners that are tempted to add extra video processing to our plasmas but don't want to see lip sync problems.

    Jon,

I got email from Tom at Immersive yesterday. It's finished. No price to me yet. They are working hard on the new Eclipsed PJ's just now. I am hoping to come up with a direct sale aggressive price strategy on this little beauty.

    Gordon,

That's great news. What would be your current estimate of shipping timescales? I would have thought 6 weeks or so, but would appreciate your understanding of the situation.

Also, we need you to be so aggressive that you frighten yourself, and your friends steer clear of you for a few days!

My options are to sell my existing amp for 250 - 300 notes (pioneer VSA E07) and buy a discounted 3803 in a month or so, when the 3805 is released. That option would get me my audio delay (and a nice amp!) and only cost me £300. I don't know though if the delay on that machine can be individually assigned to each input, or if its a general setting.

Would your device offer any benefits over the 3803 option to me?

    Many Thanks,

    Jon

Well aside from the individual input delay settings the re-clocking/de-jittering circuit should make stuff like Sky or CD/DVD players a bit better.

more info when I have it

    Gordon,

Are they able to make a bright sounding 'cheapish' cd-player perform (much) better you think? I have a 200-disc player, which was never built to be a quality audio-component you see.

    Keep us posted.

I do like the sound of the device very much, and don't need to change my amp (plus go through the faff of selling it), so its my favourite option. I just hope that you can offer it for a good price, and that i don't have to put up with my lip sync problems for too much longer.

    Thanks,

    Jon

jon: the 3803 will allow you to set the delay separately on each input.

I am sure I put a thread on here letting folk know that this was available for pre-order from dealers at a price of £325. To achieve this price the dealers had o get together a large number of orders. So far we are way off the target. The initial units should be ready mid May I think but they will not be available from me until we get some more orders in.

    Thanks,

    Gordon

No links sorry. An initial large batch are in production. Specs are

    7 inputs, 4 co-ax and 3 optical
    2 outputs, 1 co-ax and 1 optical

Full RS232 control or can be configured to work from your own IR commands. IE You teach it your amp "dvd select" code to make it switch to the DVD players digital input.

Delay configureable from 1mS to 350mS in 1mS steps.

These units go in to production for delivery in 6-8 weeks. In order to bring them to UK we need a significant pre-order. To facilitate this pre-orders can be placed with your dealer of choice at a special rate of £325. Once we have enough orders I will post here to let everyone know. Payment in advance will be required.
