Ive currently got a Minolta S414 which is the right specification for me, yet I get very poor battery life - around 20 photos using viewfinder only before the camera switches off (I am using 2400mha rechargeables). I put in new ones and that does the same, then replace with the first set which the camera accepts for a while longer then powers down again. It was a heavy user of batteries when I first got it, but now I cannot even use the screen.
Any ideas on a new camera that lasts longer?

If it really is that bad at eating batteries something is wrong. If 20 shots kills it and uses up 2400mAh batteries it should be quite warm from the power dissipation. If its stone cold I would suspect your batteries are knackered.

As to the question any recent camera will have excellent battery life. My old Oly 5050 would go all day with flash and screen on with one set of 2000mAh's.
My wifes ixus lasts even longer on one battery.
