As its asked so often I'll keep it brief.

4x4 matrix with one output being a media player.

Rest of house to be smart tvs wired to cat6 network.

Will have a 4tb NAS and hope to install PLEX thingy do dah. Many movies and TV series stored on here in MP4 or AVI with a few also in MKV

Will have Roku 3 as media player (possibly being controlled by Control 4 system remote in living room) which is then accessible at any of the 4 outputs from matrix.

Remaining Tvs if they have PLEX will have access to same content as roku3

Will this work and is this the best solution? I dont really want a PC or other extra unit running all the time.

Your system should work fine. I assume you meant one source on the matrix will be a media player.

    Control4 works perfectly with Roku.

Having a media player as 1 input to your Matrix will work but IMO is kind of missing the point of a client/server approach like Plex.

Personally I like having various small client devices on each TV so they can all be used individually. Something like a Fire TV Stick or Roku Stick could even be hidden completely behind the TV plugging directly into the HDMI.
