Basically I have two front floor standers at the moment and it's tbh a bit too big nad not suitable for the room, too much boom off it etc. So looking for a compact 5.1 setup for around £400 with two fronts fixed onto the wall. Could go for 2nd hand no prob. So to start things off, would a 2nd hand set like the KEF 3005 5.1 do the job nicely and are the best for this price? Thx! :smashin:

Yes, the KEF 3005 is nice and does a good job overall. Go hear it for yourself before you buy it and while you're at it compare it with the KEF T-Series (T205 and T305). You may be able to get ex-demo units at reduced prices. Make sure you get a decent amp in order to get the best out of those systems, mid-range Onkyo and Denon receivers would be ideal.

Alternative systems that you could have a look at are:-

    1. The Xeno Systems by MJ Acoustics (Not as nice looking as the KEFs but worth listening to and you might like them) - XENO System

    2. Paradigm Cinema 100 CT 5.1 Speaker Package. This system might prove to be just right for your needs in terms of size and performance. You can read the review here - Paradigm Cinema 100 CT 5.1 Speaker Package Review | AVForums.com - UK Online

    Hope that helps...

Thx for advice and info! But might end up having to buy blind cuz there's not much places here in Ireland that'll have those out for demo. :(

I understand your situation - go ahead with the KEF KHT 3005 SE or the KEF T-Series, you will not go wrong - both are excellent.
