as far as i know, you need extra erm, "hardware" and some software to play divx on ps2 (google search for "ps2reality").

in my experience, the playback quality of divx on ps2 isn't great.

You need a way to play copied discs e.g modchip, swap disc etc. Then get PS2Reality media player. Its free. You then boot that, swap to your divx disc and select which files to play. Or if you have a network adapter you can stream the files from your pc if you setup a network.

It has some limitiations e.g you need a way to boot PS2Reality. It more limited in the codecs it supports compared to a mediatek based dvd player. Its bitrate limit is lower than a dvd divx player e.g you get jerky or slow playback.

Overall its pretty neat but a dvd divx player is a much better solution overall.

    yeah thats right
you need to download PS2Reality media player.
and you PS2 needs to be chipped.
You can either burn the PS2Reality media player files to a CD and load this then insert the divx file,
of you can load the PS2Reality media player onto a memory card and load from there.

The easiest way i have found is to burn the PS2Reality media player along with the divx files onto a DVD using Nero under the DVD-ROM (UDF-ISO)

i have not had any problems with and Dix files i have used.
however the last DVD i burnt and tried to play the sound was jerky.
i think this may have been down to the DVD media i used.

Hence this is why i am thinking of getting a DVD player which can play Divx

Just tried this pS2 thing after reading this thread, and it worked fantastically! Just wondering how you can load the Media Player onto a memory card. As for Dvix players, I hear KISS players are very good! Does anyone know much on http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/prod...2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=65001

£90, and will stream the files straight from your computer from a wireless internet connection!

Kiss....oh boy....do a search on this forum. I've upgrade from Kiss to LG / Targa/ Pioneer for various members of my family. Mediatek based players imo are far superior.
