Question Looking for amplifier for Monitor Audio Bronze 6

Hello,

I'm new member of this forum so welcome :)

I've got new Monitor Audio Bronze 6 speakers and I'm looking for new amplifier.
Previously I had an Arcam A22.
I enjoyed the kind how it played but it's time for change...

I read a lot about amplifiers and choose some but I didn't find any opinion how do they play with my speakers.

My favourites:
a) Musical Fidelity A300
b) Hegel H100
c) Musical Fidelity A5
d) at least Arcam A32

Any advise which of them will be the best?

regards,
Paul

the Musical Fidelity A5 sounds stunning ... they still go for about £800 2nd hand and if I had £800 spare one of those would probably be my first google search

I bought the Musical Fidelity A5 and frankly speaking I'm a little disapointed.
Bass is much better controlled and more rich but the highs are not so clear as in Arcam A22. I will try with other cables but now I'm thinking about selling the A5.

It's a difficult one this as it all depends on your ears and what you like the sound of. It is possible that some of these might be a bit too much amp for the speakers. I like MA and I haven't personally heard the Bronze 6s although have heard the Bronze 5s and, to me, they were a little disappointing. Especially when compared to the B&W 684 S2s which were noticeably brighter and "bigger" sounding. It might be worth trying the amp with Wharfedale Diamond 230s or Dali Ikon 6 speakers (around the same sort of price as the Bronze 6s) and see what that combo sounds like. If you are wedded to the Bronze 6s then I would consider looking at the Arcam A29, Audiolab 8300 or, as a bit of a ranodm outside punt the Cyrus 6a or 6DAC. Although not listed on their web site at the moment you can still occasionally find a good deal on Cyrus in Richer Sounds. They have (or did have) a pretty stonking offer on the Cyrus Lyric 05 just after Christmas which is a pretty versatile and flexible piece of kit and IMHO is a far superior all in one system than the Naim offerings.

I have an almost new Roksan Kandy K2 Bluetooth which is well reviewed and has 140w power. Let me know if you want more details.

Waiting to hear what the OP is thinking ... Personally I would be avoiding the Roksan as my previous listening experience with a Kandy was one of the most bland, unengaging auditions I have heard. I appreciate that the Bluetooth updated version was supposed to be an improvement, but it would have to be a massive improvement for me to even consider one. They are also quite large beasties. There's a bit more to it than just power..

As you said, the Bluetooth version is newer and considerably better and the build quality is pretty sweet. Again it's upto the OP to demo and decide. I was just giving him an option.

Indeed it is - and appreciate that you were just giving him another option. Apologies if it sounded as if I were being dismissive - that was very much more a reflection of my personal thinking and what I would consider doing. And, to be fair, I have not heard the new Kandy myself so it would definitely be a recommendation for the OP to have a listen for himself. :)
