Can anyone recommend a silent fanless PCI-Express graphics card to use with Media Center 2005????

My current HTPC is a Shuttle with an ATI Radeon X700 graphics card, which makes a right racket at times.

I considered replacing the fan with a heat sink from quietpc.com but there isn't room in the shuttle case.

    Cheers Kamakazie!!.

The Gigabyte Nvidia Geforce 6600 looks like it might be just the ticket.

6600GT arrived today and has to be one of my worst purchases ever.

The heatsink on the back of the card is so big that it blocks the PCI slot next to the card. My only PCI slot.

I've had to remove my capture card from my Windows Media Center 2005 pc. :suicide:

I feel an ebay auction coming on.

If you had of read up about the card before buying (been spoke about on this forum many times) you may not of waissted you cash

The gigabyte is a superb card the huge heatsink is because the card is a very powerful one and runs very hot so needs a big heatsink to keep it cool

95% of silent solutions for GFX cards (well poweful ones at least) will take up an extra PCI slot theres no getting away from it, unless you go for a card like the Radeon 9600 but compared to the 6600GT its nowhere near as powerful.

If I had spotted this post earlier I could have warned you of this... too late now. It is a fab card though, I have the AGP one in my Shuttle, and have added a powered usb2 hub and an USB2 MCE Freeview card to compensate for the loss of the PCI slot.

Have just been playing GTA San Andreas with it on my HTPC connected to a PW7 plasma, it looks lovely and runs better than on my main PC with a Radeon 9800 pro.

An ATI Radeon 9600 isn't an option, since it's an old AGP card. The Shuttle G83 uses PCI Express.

I guess the only way to make it silent will be to use the onboard graphics.
