The i7 quad core processor is available in the new sony vaio f series. Performance is reduced on battery though. The dell studio xps with i7 has reduced performance on mains AC but not on battery, this has not been fixed as far as i am aware.

I have a Rock Xtreme 790 and cannot rate it highly enough. Im an architecture student and run photoshop, AutoCAD, max, sketchup...all simultaneously with no issues. My configuration set me back a touch over £3000 around August. Customer Service second to none.

What you do need to consider is that you are essentially lugging around a 'portable desktop', not a laptop thats light and easy moved.

It is a compromise you make for the power thats unbeatable.
