    Hi,

I have had a quick search looking for some information, but I'm on my lunch break and haven't got oodles of time, so I apologise in advance if this has already been covered in another thread (links would be very much appreciated).

I'm looking for a cheap (less than £50) DVD player PURELY for playing DIVX/XVID/AVI files. The player will be hooked up a Toshiba 36" Strata (remember those?) CRT TV, via S-Video/SCART (my component and RGB sockets are already spoken for.

At the moment I am converting the various DIVX/XVID files on my Mac and burning to DVD but this process is taking way too much time to do on a such a regular basic.

Also, some of the files that I d/l don't have sound - normally those that are at 720x576 - those that at a lower-res always seems to have sound (this is a lack-of-the-right-Quicktime-codec I think, as the files play with sounds through VLC but have no sound when played in Quicktime or on a standalone DVD player).

So which one would you recommend? I've had a look over at svp.co.uk and they have these? Anyone have any personal experience with either of these?

Many thanks in advance for your time and help,
