InFocus LP340B or Sony VPL-CX1 which one would be best for a Home Theatre PC?. The room it will be going into has windows but is fairly dark even in the day and is about 12 foot wide by 30 feet long. Also I can get a Whiteboard very cheap 70" by 47" would this be a good start for a screen?. I also plan to hook it up to Digital Cable television either directly or via the HTPC.

    Cheers

I can not tell you which is the best one, but what I can tell you is that PC World are selling the Sony VPL-CX1 for £1299 inc VAT at the moment. But even though it is a discontinued model you should be able to get one from your nearest store and test it before hand!

Yes I went into PCworld today, and they have the
Epson EMP-50/Sony CX1/Sony CS3 all in stock and within my budget. Which one would be best, as Im a HTPC newbie
p.s do they have a dark room in the superstores?, although he did say Epson would be happy to demo it.

If I HAD to buy one of these I would go for the VPL-CX1 (cheapest) then CS3 if I could afford it, but I would make them show me that there were no dead pixels on the machine I buy and get them to agree to change it if any appear. One thing to remember is that the CX1 and the CS3 can NOT be ceiling mounted!

But actually I am looking to get an HITACHI PJ-LC2001, when I can actually find somebody who sells one!

What ever you get, you will have a smile on your face for weeks! Be sure of that!!
