Hi all. My needs have changed I’m keeping the Kuro in the cave so looking for a TV for the lounge!

Firstly my budget is tight, I can’t afford a tv over a grand and hoping to get one discounted!

I’ve just got an Pioneer LX77 amp along with matching Blu-ray player

The TV I’m currently looking at is as follows:

Sony KD55XE8596 which also comes with a free UBP-X800 4K player and I’m hoping to get a bit of discount on top if poss via a friend

I will be sat about 3 to 4m away from the screen but others will be sat a bit closer but to the side! My amp and Monitor Audio speakers will be handling the sound but I’d like to be able to watch Netflix UHD and ideally listen to the sound through the amp if this is possible!

Any tips on settings for the TV? It will wired to Virgin 100mb and connected to the Pioneer amp via HDMI which is a Chord cable but not sure if this needs changing? I’m hoping not lol, cables are all tucked in through the built in unit.

    Many thanks

Is there any other models I should look at that’s around the same sort of price or even a little higher? Thanks

Ok peeps, things might have changed! I’ve just been to JL and have just seen the Sony 55XE8596 for £899

Now I know it’s blown the budget but this will be for the lounge.

Any thoughts on the TV! Thabks

Thanks Chris, anyone have one in actual use? Looking for owners opinions on day to day viewing and UHD HDR either games or movies!

You need to spend a lot more than that to get a capable HDR model and I guess with the new HDR consoles you will want a TV affluent rather than poor with HDR.

Sony XE9005 minimum - Lots of threads on the forum saying the same thing.

Regarding the op, you are replacing a Kuro with a sub £400 TV???

Well I was looking at the fact that it’s a 4K tv but after actually seeing the LG with normal transmission I’ve had 2nd thoughts, I love the Kuro and maybe I need to keep that until I can justify a better 4K TV!
I looked at the Sony today and 4K HDR looked really good but that was with their demo in JL, add the fact that I can get a free XB800 4K player and it appears to be a bargain, just looking for peeps opinions, if anyone has bought it.

Just because its an UHD model doesn't mean its going to be better. There will be aspects that your Kuro will do better than even the XE9005...let alone a £400 TV.

I hear what your saying chap, the Kuro is staying in the cave now, the Sony HDR will be in the lounge for 1080p and 4K via the free player.
