    Hi folks,

I apologise for creating a thread that has probably been tackled before, but searching through the threads I couldn't find answers that hit the nail on the head, so to speak.

I'm basically looking for a new set 37-40" in size, has good playback of HD DVD or Blu-Ray via 360 / PS3 / Standalone, has a half decent SD or Freeview picture , doesn't have smearing issues with games and action movies, can do 24p without any probs and has a half decent contrast ratio with nice blacks.

Walking into most stores on the high street I reel off the above and they look at me with a stare of "***!!!".

3 HDMI ports would also be nice, but 2 would suffice if they must.

I currently have a 360 Elite hooked up via VGA on a 32" HDTV I bought from Evesham nearly two years ago and even then it was about £650 so kind of a budget set.

Looking to spend around the £800 mark I suppose.

So far in my search i've noticed some Toshiba's in my range cannot do 24p properly on a PS3 with Blu-Ray, have smearing issues or some other annoying gripe that could have been avoided.

Any ideas? Sorry for the long post, thought it would be easier to just give out the info without tit for tat question and answers.

    Cheers

Don't suppose you know if the 24p works ok with the PS3 and Blu-Ray?

There were some Toshiba sets that couldn't do it for some reason.

I have a feeling the 24fps feature may be hard to come by, particularly at that price. You *may* find a set that will accept it and not display it perfectly, but finding one with butter smooth 24fps at this price point could be a struggle.

If you do manage to find one though, please tell the rest of us!

The Samsung M87 supports 24fps for that sort of money. Take a look in the M87/86 thread.

I had a Tosh X3030 and games smeared , blacks were bad and no 24fps .

I stand corrected in that case.

I must admit, I discounted having a Samsung myself after reading a couple of pages of the F96 thread. A few of their models do seem to get good reviews though which can't be sniffed at. :smashin:
